Traveling out of state for training and need to bring my pistol with me. I know I need something like a pelican case, but I got lost with all the options. What are some of you using for a single pistol, extra mag, ammo secure travel case?

Thank you

I use a plastic Doskocil case. I drilled an extra hole in it for a 2nd padlock. You could also use most plastic containers that firearms come in. I keep the ammo separate. The regs say ammo must be in it's original package.

Just a hint. Check your individual airline's regs as well as TSA there can be significant differences. The airlines can be significantly more restrictive than TSA. Sometimes recommend that you print out the airline regs/policy and carry with you to check-in also. Some of their own people don't know the company policies. Get there early, be patient, ask to speak with supervisor if any problems and BE POLITE.

I fly a lot.

That said, Doskocil case, gun empty (duh!) ammo in separate packaging (original packaging always best), mag(s) empty. EVERYTHING can be in Doskocil. TSA locks ARE absolutely acceptable.

Scores of flights...NEVER an issue! Period.

Be aware, some AIRPORT procedures vary. Just go with the flow.

Be safe.
