Seeking real world 9mm ammo advice for Shield

Thanks, Hapworth. FWIW, he uses calibrated gelatin that meets the standards set for such testing, and also uses the intermediate barrier components that have been validated for consistency. With the Army and the IWBA, he studied with Dr. Fackler, the first and foremost modern researcher on terminal ballistics.

Thanks for the 411. He seems mighty qualified. I had never heard of him, but I don't keep up with some of the latest statistic data regarding ballistics.

Just got the Gold Dot 124-grains I ordered today. Can't wait to shoot a few and see how they do. I will probably pick up some in the short barrel version next time. Pricey, but I know they will likely perform, and perform well. That's all you can ask in a carry ammo I guess.

Mine feeds literally all weights without a hitch. My former duty ammo is the 124 Plus P Remington Golden Sabre and it runs very well in the shield. It also expands in media from the short barrel quite well. Whatever you choose, make sure it runs flawlessly and make good shots and your Shield will take care of you.

Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot 124 is what I carry. Dont worry too much. No bullet design is magic. Some are better than others but bullets aren't reliable in how they expand and do weird things once they hit people.

Choose a reasobable bullet, shoot more, and have good fundamentals.

Just received an email from sgammo.com. They have the 9mm HST standard in stock again. Also saw quite a few flavors of Speer Gold Dots back in stock.

thanks

The link from ARFcom (a forum I avoid on principle; too many cop haters and other moonbats) has the same basic info, also from Gary, but this is more up to date. Gary is a dental surgeon and professor, a student of Fackler's, and also a part time cop and firearms instructor for his agency.

Very informative link--thanks for sharing
