My lawns not big enough for a rider but I'm not too enthusiastic about pushing anymore. Any good suggestions, pitfalls, weapon mounting systems etc?

get a small rear engine mower about 8 hp will do a great job, had one for 14 years, then got a bigger yard and moved up too a 12 1/2 hp. front engine, it does well, but I will always love the old one

This one works well for really TALL grass.

I bought a Newton battery operated mower a few years ago. It's very light weight and very quiet. It freaks the neighbors out to see me pushing the mower around with hardly any noise. The only down side is that it has a very small cutting path (I think 14"?). It's okay, I need the exercise and the mower is so lightweight that I don't mind the extra walking.

Regards,

Dave

Do like my dad did 55 years ago. I said pa, can we get a power mower? I remember him giveing me a direct look and just saying, "I got one"!

I have had a lawn boy for about three years now and would not buy anything else. It has that handle that controls the speed when you push on it so you can walk as fast or as slow as you want. I paid about $450 for it and I think its worth it.

I like my Toro with the personal pace feature. More importantly, make sure you get a Briggs engine. Tecumseh engines used to be great, but they now suck IMHO. Honda engines are good too, but unavailable on Toros.

I didn't know about this variable speed feature. That's something I'll be looking for. Thanks guys.

Troy-Bilt is considerably less expensive than Toro. Toro really worth the difference?

i havea toro recycler 22 inch. bag is kinda small have to empty pretty often. but then i mow about once a month.

i like that it pulls itself. also has a nifty hose adapter on the top and you run the hose with it running and it self cleans.

Ron,
I've owned a Lawn Boy, a Troy Built and now have the Toro I pointed you to. The LB was OK, but I wasn't crazy about the staggered wheels (they're different now). I would never buy another Troy Built mower. I bought mine just before they bellied up and reorganized. I had nothing but trouble with it and they wouldn't honor the warranty. It was a nightmare to work on.

I love my Super Recycler. The bag is a bit small, but it a great mulcher. It matches your pace as slow or as fast as you care to go and it does a beautiful job cutting. When you release the safety handle it doesn't kill the motor, it stops the blade and lowers the idle. It seems to be a very solid machine (going on 3 yrs).

In about a month, you're welcome to come over and try it on my lawn!

I have a John Deere self propelled lawn mower. Has three speeds--slow, medium and fast. Even the wife enjoyes cutting grass with it since she does not have to push it.
