I carry 100% of the time unless I'm going to the Submarine base or a school or someplace it would be illegal.

Normally I carry all guns right hip behind pant seam, or with dress pants, J frame (340 SC) front pocket.

I have been wearing dress clothes a lot the last few weeks between working a lot and campaigning (I'm running for first selectman in our town) so I'm getting pretty used to the gun in my front pocket.

I pull up to the gas station and these 2 idiots are making a scene, pushing each other and being loud. My trouble radar is pinging loud and clear thinking maybe someone is inside robbing the place, again, and these 2 are the distraction so I'm going to reach into pocket to rest my hand reassuringly on my 357 when I realize it is not there!

I'm thinking great time for a senior moment when I realize "hey stupid your wearing shorts" the 340 is on my hip! I bought this cheap IWB for $15 from Dillon.

It works so well I forgot I was wearing it. The combination of super light gun and good holster is great for those of you that feel uncomfortable at the end of the day.

Oh, it was a false alarm.

That is why I carry the same gun in the same holster, in the same location everyday.

It is always good to carry the same gun daily. Different guns shoot differently, handle differently and work differently. Being extremely familar with your gun is to your advantage. Many people have either been saved, injured or lost their life due to not being well acquainted with their gun. This especially applies when someone takes their gun from them and then cannot figure it's workings.

Carrying a gun will change from time to time due to weather, clothing and location. However the closest one can carry to the same method is going to be best. Some times seconds to react is too long.

I carry on my right hip, be it concealed or open carry about 99% of the time during Spring, Summer and Fall. During thhe winter I alternate between right side carry and shoulder holster with the right side carry still being the most common method of the two.

You pull up to a gas station, think that it may be getting robbed (by at least 3 people) and you hang around?

 YEAH! RUN AWAY - RUN AWAY.
Go hide under the covers!

After all - The police will protect the folks at the gas station -
You don't have to get involved just because you're the only thing between them and the rest of us.

If it makes you feel any better, I put a 22 pistol in the safe and forgot where it was for 2 or 3 months, while looking at the butt of it everytime I opened the safe to look for it. And I'm only 26!!

I lost the key to my safe. Looked everywhere, I mean I cleaned out shelves looking for it. Then one day I accidentally found it right where I hid it. I'm 39

You guys make me feel pretty good, and I'm 65!

I have a habit of being aware of what is going on around me.

2 guys acting like fools in front of the stop and rob doesn't mean it is being robbed, it is however a reason to bring your alert level up a notch.

If I spent my life running away every time my alert level went up I would have to live as a hermit in Antarctica. ;-)

Besides I'm not much of a runner.

That's why I have it with me in the first place, 'cause I simply can't run... have you ever see an ancient-one with a messed-up back try to run? . :(

I was somewhat amused by the two posters who are 26 and 35, I believe, and they have guns and a safe. Heck, at that age, either one, all I had was a family and debt. Not much going on for guns, so be glad you got guns and young enuff to get more, lots more. Me, I'm old and worn out, now all I got is a young wife and debt. Dang, some things never change.
It is nice that you had your gun at all. Most folks leave'em in the car or forgot to change from one car to another. Glad it turned out well.

I am very adamant about having the same holster and same gun at the same place on my belt every day. What I hate are the odd moments in public when I realize I forgot my pants. Welcome to the Sr. club. I'm 64 and beginning to see the effect on memory. It does make me really concentrate more with my firearm handling, double checking everything as I get older. I feel the same way as some of the others here. Because I carry doesn't mean I have to take action. If I'm in a restaurant or such and it's being robbed, I'm going to be the best witness I can. But if the shooting starts, I hope I will step up to stop it. Otherwise, let the cops and the insurance company's handle it. Don't worry about the Sr. moments, what's his name has them all the time. And for 50 target and young wife and debt, I feel your pain. I married my wife for her money. I needed the five bucks.

I can pay for my guns cheaper than I can pay for any woman lol. I figured out being 26 and single and having toys is more fun than having a wife pretty quick lol ;)

I've always carried one or more guns with me for the last 38 years. I consider myself prepared.
However, the last time I used deadly force I ended up running the bad guy over with my scout car. And no camera in the car. Go figure.

Sold a pair of grips online yesterday that I 'put away' last year.

Took me 3 hours to find them .

I forget how old I am.

Howdy roundgunner. I know from talking to you way back that you are an avid competitor, and are most assuredly well practiced with any gun you carry. I pretty much do the same thing as you. Full sized gun on the hip when clothing allows (winter) and 640-1 in the pocket when wearing shorts. I am totally confident with either and have spent plenty of time practicing with both. The senior moments happen. Nothing you can do about that! ;) I do hate that moment of Oh ####!

Thanks!

It has been a while since we spoke but, you are right I do still put lead down range. This year I got my first Division Champion at the State IDPA with the 625. That gun and the 686 just get the snot shot out of them.

I shot my M&P at the Indoor Nationals last February. First time I have done a major with a flat gun in many years. Took 5th place Sharpshooter, not a bad showing for a old timer.

I'm 70 and I never forget anything...............except maybe the point I was going to make in this post.
