I have a model 29 with 4" barrel I bought new in the early 80's. I never shoot it. Thinking about trading for a Kimber Ultra Carry, that is something I would get a lot more use out of. Every time I look at the M29 I am undecided on what to do. I really have no use for it as I also have a Super Blackhawk. If I were to get into the backcountry the SBH is the gun I would take, or my SRH Toklat. Just afraid I will get "trader's remorse" if I trade it, it is a beautiful gun, barely a turn ring on the cylinder.

No and H-ll no. Not for a Kimber. There are several other brands of 1911's that I would much rather see you trade for to include Dan Wesson, Springfield, S&W, Ruger. The other thing to consider is possibly a 1911 in 10mm. Great for carry and for in the woods both. Consider selling your 29 on the forum and then take the money and go shopping for a nice 1911.

I definitely wouldn't do it for a Kimber, especially for a 4"; however, I would for a nice Series 70 Colt.

I don't know if you have family, but, the 29 especially in pristine condition is an heirloom for sure; I just can't see that being the case with a Kimber. But, you never know……I have a gun I know my oldest son loved and was hoping to inherit one day and unfortunately he preceded me dying suddenly 7 months ago.
I will never recover from that. So now I just kind of say screw it and do what feels good.

Just by raising the question and saying you're undecided, it sounds like you are already anticipating seller's remorse and really don't want to make this deal-reason #1 not to make the trade. I've hemmed and hawed about selling certain firearms, just leaving them in the safe until I was ready to do so. No regrets so far.

If you really want a Kimber, just try it and if you like it, buy it (much less costly than the $ value of your 29) and you can keep your 29 until you decide either way- reason #2 not to make the trade.

Not sure why you are looking at the Ultra Carry. Regardless, there are likely better options depending on its intended purpose-reason #3.

Good luck with you decision.

Sell the 29 to someone who will appreciate it more than you do, which would be just about all of the others who have posted. Spend the money on whatever excites you, even if it is a Kimber.
