Serial number check

Putting the serial number from my mod 69 into the Serial Search at Smith and Wesson, this is what comes up.

"The Serial number that you entered is not valid for this Consumer Advisory"

Heck I just wanted to come up with the year of production.

DEE is the first 3 letters.

DEE: I've no info on that s/n range from my research. The Mod. 69 came out in 2014; I'd only estimate 2014-2019.

CJJ195X: possibly 2005; also, the 21-4 came out in 2004.

OP, I have a 2.75" Model 69, serial prefix DED. Ship date on the box is 04/04/2017. If you have the box you should be able to date yours as well. S&W stopped using Julian dates sometime back. Mine was printed 040417.

Can you post a link to the "serial search" on the S & W site? Didn't know this existed (unless it is for firearms under a recall notice).

Also, a call to customer service may get you an answer as to its age.

Agree, it is for recalls. Other makers have a listing or lookup function for serial numbers.

S&W must have been pumping these out like crazy in Apr-2017.

My M69 snubbie, DEF11xxx, was made on 04-21-2017.

My M66-8 snubbie, DEF41xxx, was made on 04-25-2017.

I'm guessing it's safe to say the OPs DEExxxx was made in Apr-2017 too.

I do not mean to hijack someone thread, but I can not figure how to make a new post.

I acquired a 686-4 today serial number BRK0758
I would like to know when it was made?
