serial # question

With the posts serial #s and manufacture dates, it got me thinking. I have a model 19-5 ser # ABL7xxx. I am unable to find any ser # even similar to it using the 4th edition of the standard catalogue of Smith and Wesson. What am I missing?

ABL prefix is 1983. Page 491 has the three letter prefix revolver Ser# dates.

Serial number range starting with N300000 1975-1976. With your number N393XXX, I would say late 1976 but that's just a guess on my part.
