I salute you volunteering for ROTC shooting. Make sure you and your team have good hearing and eye protection and use them. My best friend in High school got a ROTC scholarship and then failed the hearing test due to the time spent shooting on the indoor range. I was just a little nubbin when our High school ROTC instructor provided marksmanship instruction. MSG Burns turned out to be one of the top three most influential men in my life. I spent 45 years shooting, and remember him daily making sure we were doing it right. I shot All Army Rifle and Pistol matches until I retired. In 2003 I came in Second in the Alaska Service match rifle competition. I showed up in a field jacket, with my M1A, using Porteguese surplus ammo, and was master unclassified. Heck the guy I was teamed up with lent me his leather shooting jacket and 10 extra bullets, it seemed I had miscounted the amount of ammo I needed!!
Lastly, hammer in the safety rules, the range is loud, a lot of things going on at the same time and you have shooters that might be pulling the trigger for the first time.
