Saturday morning I woke up with fourteen spider bites. How I slept through it I will never know. They were on both legs and hips but did not get me in the crotch area. The bites were about 3/8th of a inch around with a little spot in the middle. They did not burn or have much sensation, that is until Monday night when about nine developed a large red circle with a good sized lump under the skin. Those really started itching so I have been using a cream to help that. I went to the doctor Tuesday was given a Medro dose pack and some doxycycline and it looks like the circle size may have decreased a little. I hope that continues.

I won't be going anywhere because even soft twill pants irritate them. I was searching my bed and found a small house spider crawling off of my bed skirt. Very glad that it was not a fiddle-back. I am calling the Grace Pointe office tomorrow and they will have Terminex to spray my apartment and that should take care of it for awhile. In 92 plus years this was the first time I have been bitten by a spider but this one ruined that record.

may well have multiple spiders on your bedding .. I would strip the bedding and wash all coverings and then dry on high heat in the dryer .. that will kill anything that survives the washing .. and yes some bugs can survive being washed on even long cycle washers .. then check under the bed .. not just on the floor but up under the bed where a spider can have a web and egg sacks !!

hope the itch is better !!

Jeez. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm horribly terrified of spiders. That's like a nightmare scenario for me---a bed full of spiders.

Spiders

Amazingly, most adults have a primordial fear of spiders, myself included, despite often being armed. In other parts of the world, there are some serious spiders that can do great damage, such as the funnel-web spider of Australia. However, in the states, there's the brown recluse spider, whose bite usually requires plastic surgery to repair the damage.

If you know for sure just what bit you, please share. I do hope you're feeling better and suffer no lingering effects.

I've never heard of so many spider bites at one time. I would think when this happened you'd be able to find multiple spiders crawling around and in your bedding. Scary to me because I hate all insects to some degree.

I hope you get a really good technician!!. Spiders are not "insects" (8 legs not 6) and are very hard to control. They can tippy toe over most any chemical!

Keep an eye on those bites. Are you sure they are spider bites? 14 bites???????? Watch for signs of expanding, infection looking.

Any small blood spots on the sheets (would indicate something else)?? Not gonna go there just yet.

As mentioned. Tear the bed apart, bedding, mattress, box spring frame top bottom.

I have had chigger bites before and they never looked like these and they showed up faster. My daughter went with me to put some flowers on my wife and family graves on Thursday but the grass was short and really dry. I was on a cane and never got down on the ground, my daughter did that and she had no chigger bites.
The bites are looking better and not itching much. No blood spots on sheets. Grace Pointe( where I live) has a call in to Terminex. No further bites.

Got bit on the back of my elbow by a Brown Recluse years ago. Didn't really pay attention until I was driving Navy visitors to our Ordnance base when one pointed out red streaks down the back of my arms and the level of swelling. Doctors gave me a local (hurt more than the injury), dug out the dead skin and shoved absorbent strips into the open wound for drainage. Ouch!

I agree..

Spiders have fangs, so I would expect to see two dots in the middle. Symptoms sound like chigger bites. Were you out in the woods or in a field during the day?

Those sound a lot like chigger bites. My son has a bunch of them now because he's been fishing in the woods. It is much more likely to get a dozen chigger bites than by spiders.

PS I'm not as afraid of chiggers as I am spiders and chances are you were already bitten or carried them to bed with you.

Reference Post 13. My daughter called awhile ago and she reminded me that we put flowers out on Sunday before Memorial day. I guess I had just lost track of time. The apartment that I live in has no no grassy areas, just some flower beds and I don't walk close to them when I am getting in or out of my car.

How far can they jump????

During my tenure in the Corps I got lots of spider and chigger bites out in the field. What tha OP describes sounds much more like spider bite(s) than chiggers. That red circle and swelling is the clue. Never saw a chigger bite do that. Getting a lot of chigger bites at one time is par for the course. And spiders generally do not bite more than once as far as I know because they have have food sources that are much smaller than us. So it is bit confusing. Main thing is that it is being treated.
