I have long since learned that bar tenders and barbers are by far the best and most accurate and unbiased source of news.

Sadly, I haven't had a haircut in a barber shop in about 45 years and I rarely go to bars these day. This kind of puts my head in the sand because I've also sworn of tv and print news as well.

What I know I mostly get from reading in here. My blood pressure also has gone way down. Sigh....................
 
And the magic number is? The media keeps coming back to the fact that the officer fired 17 rounds, indicating that was excessive (even if someone is shooting at you). Perhaps they could form a civilian panel and, working with the police, develop a protocol indicating how many rounds should be discharged in a given situation:rolleyes:. My thought wasn't he fired to many rounds, it was that that's all he had in the magazine. Personally, if someone is shooting at me I'd like an AK and 30 rounds, stopping when it ran dry.
 
Side question that I know is OT: Just how in heck does the tv rating people know what I am watching? I can understand it if I get a phone call from them asking, but tell me how can anyone possibly know what station I have on?
 
Haven't watched CNN, HLN, ABC, CBS, NBC, or MSNBC in many years - for news or any other programming. Don't even know what comes on those channels any more and don't care.

If by some chance they produce a show worth watching, I'll watch it later when it enters syndication on an acceptable channel.

Feral, your satellite or cable company knows what you are watching. Your "box" is a two way device. If you order a "pay for view" movie, your provider knows what channel you want activated. Big brother is out there.
 
I would love to speak my mind on this subject.But I would be giving a vacation if I were to do so.

They seem to be wed to the last minute of film of a guy who refuses, for 13 minutes, to obey the lawful order of LEOs to get out of a car.

I think she said that the kid was only armed with a sandwich??????? Well, he musta bit it into the shape of a gun with real boolits in it--since the good guy was shot with it.

I hate--cnn--which has several meanings too.

I remember the unedited version all too well. I saw it played on nbc nightly news but--the next day whn it was played again--heavily edited to show the bg as the gg. Nuff said.

That's why we are here--to provde you with stuff almost from the lips of: Ernie Pyle, Charles Kuralt (SP?) and a few others.
 
When Norieaga (sp) was running around in Panama, the news always referred to him as "Panamanian Strong Man".

I have referred to myself as "Missouri Strong Man" ever since. The wife just nods.
 
If this continues much longer, LEO's are going to just turn away and make believe they don't see crimes being committed or there is going to be a rash of the Blue Flu going around - and who can blame them!? This situation is a disgrace!

They finally got off that lost Malaysian jet airliner thing? For months... I watched Shark Attacker... err...uhh... I mean Wolf Blitzer beat the dust from the left-overs of that dead horse.

If you have a cable box...they know exactly what you watch and when, and 96% of homes in the nation are cable.

The other way they check is through Nielsen surveys, where they sample a large number of households and then extrapolate that number. They have been doing it for 50 years and have it down to a very concise science.
