Hey guys,

Happy holidays and wishing a great new year!

Just wanted to share a recent acquisition, second smith gun and it's a range toy. Love how slick it feels, it's smoother than the 439 but the latter shoots more accurate. I just modified the grip and added black walnut. Originally going to add night sights from Trijicon but the stock Novak were too firmly in place to remove so didn't mess with it. S&W said the gun was built in 2000.

Some of you mentioned in my last thread S&W revolvers are great, the few I shot felt like they were built like clocks compared to my GP100. Always had an affinity for the snub noses, specially featured in one of my favorites, the French Connection, I might pick one up sometime.

Great gun and first gun in my collection that is not blued, I love it. Aftermarket P-mags are okay, definitely inferior to OEM mags.

Nice gun. I like the walnut. I have a 3913, but it's not a TSW. It also has the Novak sights. SCSW estimates 1987. The 3913 are great shooters. The factory plastics were worn, but I found a set of new old stock on eBay and replaced them. Other than a few scratches that won't polish out, looks very new.

A little Mothers Mag to shine it, and RenWax to seal it, and it shoots pretty much anything I stick in the magazines.

What bullet weight are you shooting?

124 gr. standard target loads. When I did switch to a few mags of 115 gr. it felt closer to POA/POI. But not sure if that's on me or the gun. I'll have to bench rest shoot it next time to get a gauge.

@pasound: It's really nice, I'm sure yours is a nice shooter. I guess the size and mag cap could be considered obsolete in this day, but it's a pleasant and fun shooter.

Sometimes mine goes into a close-in kydex hip carry (not worried about scratching it). An extra mag in my pocket if I feel like I may see a serious problem. Usually I don't. Factory 8's are still more than a 5 shot j-frame.

And two 8-round 3913 mags are more than two New York reloads.

We're on the same page. I agree with the kydex holster, which i own, not concerned with holster wear myself. I don't CC this thing, it would be fun to though.

OP, try swapping out the Pro Mag followers with 3913 followers. That solved the PM issue for me.

More likely 1997. First 3rd gens (5904,3904,3906,6904,6906?) late 1987 / early 1988. First 3913s late 1989 / early 1990.
Mine prefers 124gr over 115gr

I have much better results with either 124 or 147 than with 115. For me, 115 shoots way too low while either of the other two have acceptable accuracy with a slight advantage to the 147.

I carry mine in a Clinger IWB Kydex holster. It's very comfortable and so far the finish hasn't suffered.

ACEd - I stand corrected. Looking at both the SCSW 2nd and 3rd editions, I can't find my serial prefix at all in the lists. I never had it lettered, and don't have the box, so I'm not sure where I got the date.
Any ideas when TEB0xxx would have been manufactured?

Hey Pas, I would just email the serial # to S&W customer service. They provided the date of manufacture from two of my collection like the next day.. pretty good service.

If you send the slide to Trijicon they’ll install those night sights with no problems. That’s all they do and they do it well. And twelve years from now they’ll replace the lamps for a small fee.

Most likely 1989-1990 but best option is to email SW with model and full s/n and ask for manufacture date. [email protected]
As to SCSW I understood their dates were from observations rather than access to SW dates. And based on my observations, there are many s/n prefixes that span as much as 10 years (an extreme case, but 2-3 years is common) so knowing that a prefix existed in 1989 does not guarantee a specific pistol was made in 1989.
