Sheriffs being set up?

Not to start any wild discussions or to disparage anyone in this great country of ours, but in reality this was THE ISSUE that the Civil War was really fought over. States Rights. Our Constitution was written to protect us from the Federal Government and its agents, which to this day are trying to usurp the power of the individual states.

I posted this article in another thread. I am subscribing to get opinions in this one too.

This business is going to get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. Admiral Josh Painter, The Hunt For Red October.

If'n the secret police...er I mean,

The secret service tries to start arresting elected sheriffs in Texas....

I'd look for The Governor to call out the Texas Guard to defend all of the good folks of Texas and all of it's elected officials.

The sheriffs in Colorado might want to look at heading south....And jest leave Colorado to the wolves and their own devises.

I don't see the feds being any better at law enforcement than any thing else they to do.....I think it'll all wind up being a state by state
thing and the federal code continuing to be not enforceable.

It's all a big mess....A lot of Sheriffs and Deputies to deal with.

Hollow Threats? Who Knows.

But,

"Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden,
sending out mandates to commissioners informing them that their sheriffs no longer have arrest powers.
In an opinion released February 24,"

Where is this legislation that is mentioned being proposed? In the United States Congress? In the General Assemblies of the states mentioned?

I'll tell you a little secret . . . the Feds don't need any legislation passed to give them "police powers" in the various states. The United States Constitution does that. The power to make and enforce laws is a concurrent power, shared by the states and the national government. Article VI of the Constitution, however, makes the National government the supreme lawmaker:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof . . . . . . . shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

All I have heard along these lines is that some democrat lawmaker in Texas was introducing such legislation. Lots of luck with that.

There is plenty of precedent for a president to send Federal troops into a state, or to just Federalize the state's NG, to see that Federal law is upheld when the states refuse to do so. See Orval Faubus and DD Eisenhower in Little Rock, Arkansas, and George Wallace and LBJohnson in Alabama.

The actions of the Sheriffs are purely symbolic. They may indeed refuse to uphold Federal law, and I applaud them for their stand. I agree with the statements of defiance they are making.

When it comes down to the nut-cutting, though, the Federal government already has the Constitutional authority to come into a state and uphold/enforce Federal law.

I wonder where that puts the highly respected position of County Constable. Constables in Texas are a very effective Lawman, elected in ther precinct, but funded by county commisioners.
To see where this sort of corruption of power leads we need look just to the south of the Rio Bravo.

That is so true. Sadly most people believe that slavery was the main issue of the Civil War, but it was States Rights.

Those Sheriffs may wind up with one heck of a heavily armed and unruly posse if the Feds come waltzin' into town.

The FEMA brown shirts may get right familiar with how Custer felt up there on the Greasy Grass if they ain't careful.:)

The feds seem to keep forgetting the Tenth Amendment:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Yea...Purty sure somebody said that bout 1861......

Jest to put a little more spin to all this....

One of the small local SOs I work with had just this last year received a couple dozen M-16 A-2 from a federal grant program.

An are issued out to each road deputy and detective squad.

Jest wonder how the special police plans to deal with this means of possible federally outfitted opposition?

Makes a feller scratch is head in amazement, don't it.

The answer is simple, and just a key stroke away...drones equipped with Hellfires. ;)

Our Sherrif in my county has been an upstanding guy, and conducts his department very professionally. If he called, I'd go.

I would not put this past our current crop in Washington. It would seem the Constitution is just an obstacle to them. They only want to uphold the parts of it that benefit them.

We're mostly all like-minded here. Others better smell the coffee. I'm nothing and nobody, but I'm not a subject or slave. I have a brain and am not one of the sheeple. I pray that I never have to personally defend myself and what this country was founded on, but if I do, it will be done without a blink of an eye. I don't care what clothing the "legal terrorist" has on. Should they push, they will start a serious chess game. I aim to behave, but I WILL aim to mis-behave should it become necessary. My boots will ALWAYS stay on......period. Whatever entity that might read this post and consider action against my god-given rights should ask themselves if they to would like to have a nice supper with their family and loved ones tonight. Just being fair........
