Sheriffs being set up?

Ya'll are in a tizzy over the feds, when the likelihood of new federal gun legislation is about nil.

You need to watch your state houses. All the really bad stuff is coming from them - do you suppose all these Sheriffs and staties are going to refuse to enforce STATE law?

Keep worrying about the feds while your neighbors sell you out.

Colorado Sheriffs have already said they will not enforce legislation just signed in.

Diamond Back's post caused me to think of a book I am currently about half way through that seems to take this whole idea another step up. And it is an eye opener, to me at least, in regard to the gov's ability to track us. The book is by Brad Thor: "Black List."

Couldn't have said it better myself. CT and NY are just the first. As soon as it becomes obvious nothing will happen at the Federal level these folks will move into the states, picking the "low fruit" first. The entire issue of gun rights is just beginning so bookmark your legislature on your computer and watch for anything to do with gun control.

Hurts me to my heart to see the leaders of the greatest nation in world history engaging in selective enforcement of The Constitution.
Never thought I'd live to see the day...

Add Colorado. Anyone who thinks this isn't coming their way, better think again.

16 of 64 said they will "speak out against" new laws. The article seems unclear as to if they are against new federal laws that will never come, or the new state law going on the books.

We'll see how many actually tell their deputies not to enforce Colorado state law.

The other 48 seem OK with it.

16 Colorado sheriffs to speak against more gun control as Obama promotes federal legislation - The Washington Post

The other 48, or at least some of them, may not be OK with it at all but may just be taking Steve's approach of not goading the feds. Who is to say?

If the Sheriffs are not to enforce Emigration laws why are they suppose to enforce Federal Gun laws?

I was thinking the same thing...Arizona comes to mind. Selective and politically expedient enforcement.

What Sheriff in his right mind is gonna enforce an unpopular statute with any

vim and vigor that might interfere with a re-election campaign, I ask ya?

None! Any LEO worth his weight will know when to "look the other way"; it's done all the time, and I've been guilty of ignoring "things" that were once considered normal, and somehow have found their way into some billion page criminal code book.

And That's The Way It Is,

When I was working...Ya didn't slow down on a call to stop and check someone's mag capacity or
check that rifle he's coyote hunting with has a bayonet lug.

There's lots more important work to be done, than trying to
stir up trouble for the boss (Sheriff) with some un enforceable statues.

Besides....Most DAs are busy with serious crimes and don't have time or manpower to prosecute these type of nuisance cases.

I'm still fairly new at this but I go to the range quite a bit and I've yet to see anybody checking magazines. I've heard of it on public land though.

Kinda a bit of drift...

But, I think them boys with the squirrel patrol are the ones checking cartridge and shot shell capacity.....;):D

When I was working closely with one Sheriff's Dept., they had their hands full with
serious felonies, no time for splittin hairs on the small stuff.
