Shield 40 Mishap

Time to close this Thread. It ended as I suspected it would...not the guns fault, rather questionable ammo. Take S&W's offer if it is still available and move on. The recent posters have killed this Thread....lock it up.

"It ain't over till its over"

I would like to know if S&W will send it back!!or at least with out trying to making a better offer? I hear that Glocks kaboom policy is GET THE GUN GET THE GUN

I requested it back. I sent them a email. Don't think I wont raise 9 kinds of hell if they don't.

2001,
sorry to hear it turned out this way. Stinks. Maybe they were reloads of some kind that happened before you got the box. Who knows for sure. I sure can understand your being upset and think you've been more of a gentleman than I would have been.

At the end of the day, I'm glad you were not hurt and nobody around you was hurt. Guns can be replaced, you or your body parts cannot.

Jeff

I read this entire thread and unless I just missed it, why hasn't S&W returned your gun? The bottom line is they keep your gun and have an "option" to buy another at a lower cost?

I don't know if this is kewl or not, but I am going to suggest it...

I will kick in 20 bucks to a fund to purchase a new Shield for you. Anyone that wants to contribute, let me know and I will put it together. It is entirely up to 2001... With all our brothers that have posted in this thread, surely there is enough of us to make this happen.. what say ye all.. let's end this unfortunate situation and move on in a positive way.

WOW! Certainly didn't expect to log on and see this. That is generous of you to do something like that but its certainly not expected. I did send smith a email requested my gun be sent back to me. There response was the same letter they done sent me for the not so discounted gun.

Ok, my point exactly, 20 bucks is not the end of the world, I can skip a box of ammo for ya, or what ever anyone can afford. Take the new gun at the discounted price and I will kick in... you give us the ok, and guys can pm me privately, PP or whatever.

To be honest I don't even know what to say. If you think something like this could be done then go for it. But I absolutely don't expect something like this at all. I really don't even know how to go about getting the new gun. I'd rather someone other than me get the money and pay Smith so if it does happen everyone knows that's what the money went for. I dunno if you or someone nearby could take it in (the paper) or I can call them and tell them or what then they send the gun out. I have no idea how it works. I know my wife wont let me spend a dime on one because shes severely hacked at this whole situation cause I spent every dime of my Christmas money from 2012 to purchase this Shield. I will say this also I certainly don't want a 40 cal. This whole thing is up to you Turbo and words cant say how this makes me feel. I will say this also if you cant get enough then we will just leave it at that and we will forget about it. Thanks!!!!!

Ok, let me work out a plan... I'm watching the Patriots playoff game... it's intense.. I'll come up with something tomorrow and we'll see if I can get enough guys to jump in before I actually look for the money...
Go Pats!!!

I wrote Smith a email trying to negotiate a better price. Also ask if I could get something other than the shield like just a FS M&P 9mm like I already have. I'm pretty sure they told me before I could get any M&P model for that price. They know I certainly don't want a 40cal back.

Buying ammo at a gun show is one thing I don't do for this very reason. Same reason I don't shoot reloads period in a pistol and especially a 40cal.

Many gun shops get phone calls from folks who inherited their Uncle's gun collection and want to sell the ammo. The LGS buys it cheap and puts it on the shelf. Usually at a discounted price. Upfront LGS tell customers the circumstances surrounding the ammo so they know caveat emptor.

By the way, to those who claim otherwise, I reload a lot and if I take the time to match the head stamps to the primers to the bullets, you cannot tell by the naked eye whether or not they are reloads.

I have a "forum friend" who ended up going bankrupt, cars repossessed, bank accounts depleted, etc while trying to care for his ailing wife so the forum members did the same thing.

Except it was a Harley forum and members got him a new (to him) Harley. :)

OK, so it looks like a few have already offered up. I have a PayPal account, hopefully most can send there and I will post up a list as money arrives. If anyone wants to send a check, that is kewl, I will offer up an address to mail to and would like a PM to let me know what each person is doing. I think those are the 2 best forms of donation.

Now I will need to know for sure from 2001 what we are getting, maybe who he is speaking with at S&W and we can get this ball rolling. We need to know exactly what we need for funds and when we hit the mark, it shuts down. If anyone here has any other ideas or constructive input, let's have it.

But... lets keep this simple.. thank you

The letter I got said $320 plus $14 shipping. It shouldn't be a penny more than that. I sent them a email this morning early asking if I could get a better price. So hopefully it might be cheaper than that. Told them I'd rather have a FS 9mm over anything like the one i have now. That I didn't want a shield if I didn't have to get one. No 40 cal for sure but if needed I would take a 9 shield. I hope I will know for sure by tomorrow evining. Thank you all!!

Michael DiFiore Is the guy I been emailing back and fourth the whole time this has been going on.

Man that's amazing. What a great bunch of people. That's a big chunk of change to purchase a new Harley. I bet the guy didn't know what to do or say.

The reply to my email was to follow the instructions on this letter. Says a M&P Pistol for $320 and $14 Shipping. Kinda hard to follow the instructions when this lady will never answer the phone. If you leave a message she will have someone else call you back.
