Was #1 on LGS list and 1 came in and here it is. $419
Will shoot tomorrow AM
Grip is slightly larger than 9mm and the stippling is amazing. No grip additives required.

Complaint#1: Can only get 3 rounds in each Mag. Called CS and was told to get a loader or let the 3 sit and then try another and so on......Kinda effed up.

#2: Cheapo cardboard box and no tested cartridges.

Nice pictures. I had trouble with my Mags also. Used a loader. Still difficult but got them in there. Put 100 rounds through it. No malfunctions. Mild recoil.

I had the same mag problem with the Shield 9mm. I can now load the seven round mag by hand (after over 400 rounds through the gun) but still cannot get all eight into the big mag.

Thank goodness for the mag loader. It is all I use now.

You guys have gotten kinda slow. It's been three hours since the original post and no one has recommended to the OP that he pick up an UpLULA for loading his mags.

Once you use one, you will never go back to loading by hand. My shooting buddies kept "borrowing" mine and forgetting to return it, so I bought one in hot pink. My wife "borrowed" that one.

Having handled the gun for a few hours now, I now think the stipillng is a bit too harsh. Now it feels awesomer !!

I'm sure I will pick one up after they become MA-compliant and we are allowed to buy them in moonbat Massachusetts (no doubt with another "trigger from Hell"). ;) But am I the only one who finds the front slide "mini-grip" kind of silly and, yes, even ugly?

It's not offensive enough to stop me from buying one, but it's something where I wish S&W had left well enough alone. :o

Looks great! I can't help but wonder how the overall size compares to the Shield 9mm and .40 Models.

Slightly bigger overall, in the grip it's better. Why I never bought a Shield 9/40 was because the grip felt too thin. This is better.

Comparing it to my XDS and G26 it feels like a much bigger gun, probably due to length and grip length.

Your grip is much higher on both the XDS and G26 also.

Shooting it this morning, I'll post my thoughts this afternoon

I don't mind the looks, but I doubt seriously they have any real utility. I don't use front cocking serrations at all on any semi auto, so this is a non issue for me. I'd be just as happy without them!

Okay, went to the range and put 110 rds through the new Shield.
1. 50 UMC 230 gr. MC
2. 50 Freedom 230 gr. FMJ
3. 10 HST 230 Gr. JHP

The Shield was 100% absolutely reliable..Not a hint of a problem. Accuracy was SUPERB.

I shot it side by side with my XDS 45. The Shield was significantly softer shooting than the XDS. I am not recoil sensitive at all but The Shield was a pleasure to shoot.

XDS on Left Shield on right. 10 yds. Rem. UMC 230 gr. MC

Then I shot the Shield exclusively at 10 rapid fire Freedom 230 FMJ

Target acquisition and follow up shot speed was again, superb. I was unable to get the 7th round into the magazine even with a modified Glock loader. The 6 rounder I could with a LOT of effort, but fine with the loader.

To say I was thrilled is an understatement, the Shield is phenomenal, easy to shoot, accurate, dead reliable, great ergos, good sights, excellent Trigger, point-ability is superb.

I did put the inner tube over the grip, as handling the gun a lot the stippling is actually very sharp. The inner tube tames it with zero bulk and just gives it a great feel and not slippery when sweat.

I paid $419 at my LGS which is 5 miles from the Range/LGS. As I was leaving the range, they were selling a Shield 45 they just got in........
$559......I got a deal......Tanners in Jamison PA.....Great SHOP

I've been told we are about a year away from seeing mass compliant Shield .45's :( (Four Seasons told me)

I'm sure I will pick one up after they become MA-compliant and we are allowed to buy them in moonbat Massachusetts (no doubt with another "trigger from Hell"). ;) But am I the only one who finds the front slide "mini-grip" kind of silly and, yes, even ugly?

I really like the 45 Shield, I like the stippling treatment on the grip, my 9mm I had sent out for stippling. The gun shoots amazing, very accurate, mild kick overall S&W hit it out of the park!! The only thing I will change is the sights to a set of Trijicon night sights. I'm going to shoot it for a while before I decide whether to do anything with the trigger. I think the forward scallops on the slide are for the"press check" procedure to check/verify the firearm is loaded. I don't have anything bad to say about the 45 Shield very satisfied.

Very stiff at first, really hard to get the last round or two in. But it got easier. I've put 250rds through it so far. Accuracy is excellent but I do find my groups open up faster than the 9mm.

can anyone who have a shield and the XDS post some pics next to this, probably next to the 45c !!! that would be sweet to see.

If I come across one local for $419.......I will probably leave with it:cool:...........and I don't really like striker fire guns;).................but I did like my Shield 9 when I had it:D

I kinda want one but I'm buying too many kinds of ammo now, 22, 22 mag, 380, 38, 357, and 9mm. and that's just for my hand guns not to mention rifles. I hate to add one more.
