I am looking to get a shield 45 (as my EDC), but I am jumping back and forth between the standard shield 45 and the shield 45 performance center. Do you guys think that the shield 45 performance center model is worth the addition 100 bucks or so more?

Which PC are you looking at, the one with night sights or the one with Hi Viz fiber optic sights?

My LGS had a new Shield 45 PC w/ fiber on sale not long ago for a ridiculously low price. I passed for two reasons. The PC didn't come with a thumb safety and I'd end up taking the fiber off for tritiums. Fiber has it's advantages and disadvantages. There are certain times when fiber is useless. Truglo makes a tritium/fiber sight that is the best of both worlds, but don't know if they make it for the Shield.

For the loads I chose to shoot out of the Shield 45, the porting to me is debatable. They're not +P, good solid standard velocity rounds that are very manageable and accurate in a short barreled 45.

All something to think about before you buy.

All I can tell you is that you would be pleased with either one.

If on the slide it is stamped "M&P Shield 45" all is good.
would go for the Truglo over the fiber sights.

The Shield 45 is a soft shooter and personally I don't see the advantage of the ported barrel. In fact, my 45 (recoil) is more manageable than my Shield 9 2.0.....

In other words, whichever one you get you will not be disappointed. :D:D:D:D.

This from a Shield Fanboy so take it for what it's worth.

I don't like a ported barrel. Too many negatives for me to justify one. I did add Hiviz front sight $20, Apex Sear, $25 (off ebay), Apex trigger return spring $20. I think it's just about right.

I am 50/50 with my ported barrel because it makes the slide near the muzzle a chore to clean but I experience less muzzle flip/recoil vs my 4" barrel'd pistols.

As a result, my Bill Drill groupings are tighter and faster with my ported Shield.

I was on the fence with this issue, until about a month ago. Walked into my favorite LGS and they had the night sight PC 45 Shield on sale for cheaper than internet LE prices for the fiber optic model. I had a standard 45 Shield a couple of years ago and didn't like it all that well. It had a hard time with some of my reloads, so it got sold. The PC Shield works 100% with everything so far, including the same reloads. Don't know if it's Performance Center magic or I just got a finicky one before, but I like the PC Shield. The porting helps with muzzle flip, and double taps are pretty easy with it.

I bought a PC model with FO sights. It's definitely worth the $100 just for the trigger and sights alone. I was skeptical of the porting at first but have found the porting does help with follow up shots as compared to (my buddies) basic 45 shield.
Besides, it just looks way cooler :-)
