Shield 45 Range Report

Today, I had an opportunity to take my new Shield 45 to the range. I fired 200 trouble free rounds of 230 grain Lake City FMJ. The distance was 25' and I fired a combination of 2 hand, strong hand only and weak hand only. Accuracy was more than acceptable for that distance and recoil was very startling for the first 15 rounds or so. After I got use to the recoil, I settled in to what to expect when I pulled the trigger. As you can detect, I shot low and left. That is not the fault of the gun, but the way I tend to print on the target.
So, with the right ammo, I believe this will be added to my CCW rotation with its slim profile, light weight, and devastating stopping power. For my CCW ammo, I chose Hornady Critical Duty 220 grain HP's that was measured to deliver 934 FPS from this little Shield.
Although the Shield 45 will meet my CCW requirements, I believe that some may be better served with the Shield 9mm offering less recoil, a little lighter and a couple more rounds.

Try loosening the grip of your shooing hand fingers just a little. I find when I shoot left I'm gripping too tight and torqueing the gun and loosening my grip will bring rounds back to POA.

So I shot mine today 100 rounds and I am grouping left also. I tried loosing my grip on my shooting hand and it didn't help much. Once I get my trijicon hd's installed i'll put another 100 rounds down range and see if my POA/POI is off.

When I start grouping left I just adjust my trigger finger and it does the trick for me.
I need to put my finger all the way to the first knuckle with the .45 but I have to use the pad of my finger with my G17.

Ditto on the trigger finger for me. My left impact tendency was reduced by using extending more of my finger onto the trigger.

Picked mine up about two weeks ago after reading a few reviews and liking my son in law's Shield 9. Just over 100rd through it so far but it's my new carry gun. Plenty accurate, plenty of stopping power, capacity not bad, and even a little bigger than the 9, it still fits in my front pocket just fine.
