Bought my Shield :D45 back in Sept 2016, Had some mags pop out while firing in the first 300 rounds. Swapped out magazine catch and the weapons has been running fine ever since.
I would say well over 5,000 rounds so far, about 4,000 after mag catch swap out.
I am fortunate to have an abundant supply of Winchester SXT 230+P which happens to be my carry round. Even these rounds that shield 45 is a soft shooting gun and very very accurate. It seems as though I shoot the Shield 45 slightly better than my shield 9.
Shot about 200 rounds today, a mix of 230 HST +P, SXT +P, generic Ball ammo and the Critical Duty 220 grain +P. All ran flawlessly and all rounds were accurate The SXT seems to be the most accurate. Was a little concerned about the ballistics of the short barrel 45, But lucky Gunner had done some pretty extensive ballistics testing. That SXT +P rounds seems to the best round as far as penetration, expansion, velocity, energy and weight retention followed by the HST, golden Sabre and the critical duty.
Really Like this shield 45, Hoping Magguts will come out with their version of adding one round to the mag.
Just a little info

It will take me a lifetime to get off 5000+ rounds so I know my gun will last a lifetime LOL!
I never even checked to see if the Shield was rated for +P ammo? I'm glad to here you got past your glitch with the mags dropping out. Sounds like you too have fallen in love with the way it handles and how accurately you shoot it, the same for me.
Keep it going................

MP1SG -- Just curious...why do you use +P? My expectation is that standard load quality JHP (HST mostly) and expect it would get me out of the majority of bad self defense situations, since I shoot it accurately and it is reliable in my Shield 45.

Yes, I'm loving mines but I do need to get out again to shoot her.

That is my issued round so its free. I only fire are a mag or two each month of the +P ammo. S&W manual DOES NOT recommend +P+ they actually even state a + P ammunition 'may result in the need for more frequent service' . Most of my shooting is done with Generic Ball 230 ammo.
