Shield 9mm Best Ammo for EDC??

Federal 124gr HST or Hydra shock is what I carry in my Shield. They function flawless and group well. Plus they are usually always available. Even last week at my local shop.

Thanks for the feedback.
124gr or 135gr Hydra Shoks?
BTW...why are some folks bashing Hydra-Shoks...new technology?

The reality is in a SD shooting and the probable distance of the encounter, any trick pony bullet will get the job done. Deadly force incidents are not social distancing.

New? No Hydra shoks are old. "Hydra shows" are late 80s bullet technology. They arnt awful, but bullet tech has come a long way since then.

HST (Hydra shok two) improves over them in pretty much everyway. I imagine the only reason they still make hydra shoks is department's that refuse to authorize new ammo.

To complicate matters further I think Federal has introduced a few new bullets/loads under the "Hydra show" name, like the newer "Hydra shok deep" line.

When I had a 9mm Shield I ran Hornady Critical Defense. It ran well in the Shield and also works in my Hi-Power.

I have found this site helpful when deciding what defensive rounds to look at and try.

With that said; in todays ammo market you might just have to go with what you can actually find in stock. Even Winchester White Box FMJ loads are better than nothing.
