What's up with gun stores and ammo ?????

I work part time at a fairly large midwestern shop and range. We have boatloads of ammo and nearly all of it is on the sales floor. We do keep some behind the counter for the rentals (S&W 500 for example). I would have to check the specific choice per the OP but we have a lot of 9mm SD ammo for sale. I see no shortages.

That's good to hear .... I am happy for you guys .... Wish it was the same here .... I mean they (here) can have 10,000 cases locked up in the back room but if you ask for some and they have it they should go get it and sell it ..... why have it if you will not sell it......that concept is way over my head........

Hazardous shipping cost added to ammo costs about don't make it worth my while to order much ammo off-line except believe it or not, from bass pro. The online orders from bass pro are less because of additional taxes in store .. but there's a few stores where it's cheaper to drive to an just get what I need.

While it doesn't make sense, loaded ammo does not require any hazmat fees, hazmat is only on powder and primers from anywhere that I have ordered from.

Inquiring minds want to know !!!!!!!
At least locally here the gun stores are keeping their primo ammo in safe's in the back room and this ammo is only available to new gun buyers and not out on the viewable ammo racks....

Must be a local problem. The stores around here all the ammo is on the shelves.

I can't remember the last time I purchased ammunition from a brick & mortar store.
I purchase online when the prices are good and include free shipping . The prices right now are the best I've seen in a while and I'm taking advantage of that and making sure that I'm well stocked up .

Federal Premium Personal Defense HST 124gr JHP, Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP, Sig Sauer V-crown JHP and Hornady Custom 124gr XTPS.....These are all I will use so I am left with ordering from Natchez or Brownells.

One gun store 9 miles in another town does display the Hornady Custom XTPS when available for walk in purchase none of the others do but they have shelves full but you can't buy it unless you purchase a new gun......Makes little to no sense to me

I have a store and if someone wants it I sell it. I have seen this around in places as well? I cant for the life of me figure it out. Maybe its because of the price? I havent had any problems getting ammo when I order it. If you cant get it let me know.

Haven't seen anything like that in my area . My local stores have all ammo out for sale , even the ultra hard stuff only produced once every few years. Not cheap but available and no limits that I am aware of.
