Shield 9mm Conversion Barrel

Shield Barrels

This is an old thread and there are tons of posts on the topic.

That said here is a excerpt from one that may save folks some time looking for barrels for their Shields.

I called "Guns and Gear" and they suggested that I "like" Guns and Gear on Facebook. That way I'd recieve notice as soon as barrels came in.

I did as suggested and had a barrel within a week (early May). My 9mm conversion works perfectly."

Hope this helps

.9mm barrel

I just called Guns and Gear 413 786 0100 they have them just got a shipment in.:):)

Not The Case At Least For Me...

Good luck. S&W has no plans to sell 9mm barrels to the public. Can only get if you have warranty issue, and send in pistol.

I purchased a 9mm directly from S&W - it was backordered for months but I did receive it a couple of months ago. It was around $70-75 including shipping.

I already had one of the 9mm barrels for my 40 that I had purchased from a gun store out East. I could only order a single 9mm barrel from them at the time. I got the additional 9mm barrel from S&W when I placed an order for additional magazines. I purchased it for a hunting buddy who has the M&P Shield 40 mm and who was interested in being able to fire 9mm.

For some reason he does't seem interested in getting it from me/paying for it (as I said it has been almost 2 months since it arrived and I called him about it and he has not followed up). If for some reason he doesn't want it and if anyone is interested I will sell it at cost here on the board. It is still in the box which is unopened. Andy

I got a 9mm shield bbl straight from S&W. 200 rounds through it in the .40 frame. 0 malfunctions.

It throws brass crazy though, some go over my LEFT shoulder or over my head.

Must have already sold out? Not listed on G&G website.

I just checked their website too and I don't see any S&W barrels on there.

Does anyone know if you can still buy them from S&W?
I can't seem to find any info on this from 6/2013 to now.

Their website never had them. Everyone who got the barrels had to call them directly and purchase them. This was back when the Shield came out and everyone started converting.

Since then, i believe the barrels are pretty much non existent. S&W no longer lets the barrels leave the factory as replacement parts.

You're right. I called S&W, they said they won't sell barrels. I called Midway, Brownells, Guns and Gear (I think is their name) and no luck.

I finally got frustrated and emailed Storm Lake to see if they were going to make one and this is what they said, "I am adding this email to the waiting list. We will produce one in the near future. I don't have an ETA."

That's good news! Hopefully they'll follow through with it. The Shield is very popular and I think they'd have good sales from it. I know I'll buy one.

So, like the OP said, email Storm Lake to let them know you're interested.

Assuming the price isn't ridiculously high, Storm Lake would have an instant winner.

Going by the comments on this and other forums, I'd expect them to sell a Shield 40 - 9 conversion barrel to AT LEAST a third of the Shield40 owners who don't already have a Shield9. If they can get it out before the competition, they'll be swamped with orders. :D

Several months ago another member reported KKM said they have plans to add the Shield but gave no other ETA than to say sometime next year (2014). I'd be patient and I think we'll see them.

I emailed KKM yesterday and they replied that they have NO PLANS to do a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel for the Shield.

"Sorry, we do not make the Shields and do not have any plans at this time."

I have also been in touch with Storm Lake and was added to the list! That was six months ago! The gun has been manufactured since when? Does not look good from any after market supplied!
And to the people who say that their Shieds are going kaboom? What is kaboom? Quit putting +p ammo and the like in your pistols if your firearm is not rated for it! And please we all know people who are shooting hotter loads and are pushing the limits of ammo ratings!

I emailed Storm Lake a couple weeks ago to be put on their waiting list - right after I bought a Shield in 40. Storm Lake replied that they had 'no waiting list, and no plans to make a 9mm conversion barrel for the 40 Shield". So, I dunno, guess when or if I see it advertised for sale on their web sites, I will believe.
