Shield 9mm on Gunbroker with 4 hours left and 22 bids later is at $605.

I was told by a gun dealer in another auction a Shield 9mm went for almost $700.

It is obvious supply is not keeping up with demand.

I called S&W and they are operating 24/7 on the Shield line.

If the Shield does not get the "Gun of the Year" award I will be shocked.

Wow, and I know a couple of LGS in central Indiana that has them in stock for $399. A buddy just bought one.

I was in Kentucky past weekend and they had the 9mm and .40 in stock for $419.

Of course here in Virginia, non of my LGS have them in stock...lol

Are people that desperate for a shield? Jesh. Just shop around or wait. I love my shield but i'd never pay that for it...

I picked up a 9MM about a week ago at one of my LGS's for $450 OTD. Not a fantastic deal, but a very fair one. They had quite a few 9's and 40's in stock. I traded for another 9MM BNIB a couple of days ago (that my son promptly laid claim to) that ended up costing me $400. Seems kind of strange that they're plentiful in some areas yet scarce in others.

The gun is probably the hottest selling handgun right now for sure, but I haven't seen any supply issues, every time I visit a LGS, they're in stock, maybe just in .40 or 9mm but they're there. Maybe OP just has bad timing getting to the shop, idk.

The shield is a great gun and I can't wait to get mine (on a waiting list) but I have to say the Caracals are better IMO when it comes to gun of the year. Doubt they will beat the shield just because of the hype around the shields.

Do you have a link forCaracals? I googled and came up with a large cat with unique ears.

It's too bad they ignored us left handed shooters on the Shield. it's the ONLY MP that isn't ambi.

I think some are forgetting the purpose behind the design of the Shield. It isn't really much smaller than the 9c until you take into account it's thickness. When you decide to design a gun as thin as possible it can no longer be ambi. Take for example the thumb safety on the Shield as compared to the thumb safety of my 9C. The thumb safety of the Shield protrudes far less. I am ambidextrous. As a child I did whatever felt right to me. I shoot pool left handed. I used to shoot rifles and shotguns left handed and handguns right handed. While in my thirties I discovered I am right eye dominant so I taught myself to shoot rifles and shotguns right handed. When I was shooting rifles and shotguns left handed, all of the shooting I did was with right handed weapons. I adapted. For years Ruger absolutely refused to build any left handed rifles. By the way, guess whether Bill Ruger is right or left handed. How many of you have shot a single action Colt or Ruger revolver? You do realize these are built as left handed guns don't you? You must shift the gun to your left hand and open the loading gate with your right hand and load them. While I understand the fact the Shield was designed primarily with the right handed shooter in mind, I also understand the right handed shooter comprises a much bigger portion of the market than the left. How many semi-automatic weapons actually eject to the left? If they don't do this they really aren't left handed. Adapt and conquer, Please. These small weapons aren't going to be ambi.

Good for them. Those are the shops with professional ethics who should be supported.

I have a S&W 66 combat magnum, and I realize that revolvers are also for right handed folks. The problem with the Shield is that i can't easily flip the safety off with my left hand as i draw it. And you can't tell me it would have been too hard to do a safety on the other side as well. I'm not buying that. Charter arms does make a LEFT HANDED version of the 2" Undercover revolver, called the Southpaw. I have been toying with the idea of trying it out.

I can live with the mag release being on the wrong side. But I refuse to trust my life to fumbling with a safety that isn't designed for me. And I will not carry a gun that has no safety IWB. I like my twig and berries too much for that.

I really laugh at that. I carry IWB every day with an empty chamber and full magazine. It really isn't Rocket Science. If you train that way, you develop the habit of racking the slide as you draw your weapon. You say that's crazy! Tell the Elite Israeli units who have been doing this for years it won't work. It is the safest way possible to carry a weapon. An AD isn't possible with an empty chamber. A safety really isn't needed with one either.
