Hey guys,

I was wondering, has anyone tried the Shield in 9mm with the Hornady Critical Duty +P.

Some say it isn't for short barrels, thinking of getting some, but wanted to ask first

Shot some comparable 147 gr fmj's, sub-sonic yesterday and it handled them fine. About a 3" group from 10 yds without trying much. Brand new gun and just wanted to test fire it before I give it to the wife.

You're absloutely correct. I had a brain fart. However I do have some CD in the bag and can test it after lunch. ;)

Ok, here's 5 rounds at 25 feet. Shoots harder than the 147gr, more recoil. The 147 is what I have been shooting in my FS M&P.
IDPA target, 8" circle.

And 5 more from 5 Yards

Shot offhand on uneven ground with 5-10. mpg breezes. I'm sure with some more rounds through the gun I could do better. The trigger is a little stiffer than my FS with DCAEK and RAM, but nothing like my BG380.

I have some, but was wondering if Speer Gold +P would be better,ie more manageable recoil and better follow up shots

I've stuck with the 115 grain and have better luck with the shorter barrel lengths. No affence,Same distances I can keep them all in the center. I was "told" the heavier bullet is out the barrel and gone before all the bowder has actually burned. Lighter bullets get a better powder burn on "take off" and track better.

Haven't tried the 115 yet. I was shooting it through the FS till I tried the 147 and found for me anyway it performs better, especially out to 15-25 yard distances. The Atlanta Arms "Blue box" ammo is very popular around here as they're local and supply several national teams.
