So I am new here but I have used the search option on the site for titles and talk regarding an armorer's bench mat for the Shield but have had no luck.. Searched high and low on the inter-web also... Anyone know if one exists yet?? I know they gun is relatively new and is pretty much like the full and compact sized M&P but I still figured someone would have made em for the Shield by now.

Nice, but silk screening doesn't hold up to gun solvents very well. I have a nice mat from Cabelas, which makes small parts easy to see, and they don't roll around. Most of the time, there are only four parts on the table - frame, slide, barrel and recoil spring, seven parts for a 1911.

Yeah I know there're like the M&Pc but like I had sai in the Op I'm just looking for a Shield one just cause lol.

I think it depends on the quality of the mat in regards to how it would hold up to solvents. I have a pretty thick Glock mat that I got at a local gun show that has held up nicely.

Let me know if you find one please. Ï just want one too!

Here's what I use, & it has held up well. Cheap too!

Sorry, I tried to provide a link but it didn't work. Anyway, just go on S&W's site & search "mat" & it'll come up.

I cut up cardboard boxes in about 12"x24".....just put in a new water.....have enough mats to last till Memorial day now..:D

The Shield is significantly different from the full size or compact guns. None of the parts will interchange. So, I understand wanting a mat (or more specifically a schematic) of the Shield.

Not exactly true. These parts are common between the Shield and the regular M&P's:

Sear
Sear spring
Sear plunger
Striker block
Striker block spring
Striker block washer
Trigger return spring
Striker assembly
Striker channel liner
Extractor pin

OK, I see that now. Thanks for the update. Even so, that leaves a lot of parts that are unique to the Shield.

Of course, the parts may be different, but the names are still the same. I'm not going to say that a regular M&P TekMat is useless just because you have a Shield.

If you find someone willing to make a Shield Specific mat for a minimum order of 'X' mats (25? 50? 100? whatever) to make it worth their while, start a 'Pre-Order' thread and we'd probably be able to come up with enough interested buyers to meet that minimum order. :)

can any one tell how to read serial numbers or are they for factory id

I wrote to S&W and asked about a parts list or an exploded view for a Shield, this was the reply...
Dear Customer,
"We do not provide manufacturing dimensions on our products.
Smith&Wesson values its customers and we are happy to have served you today. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.
Regards, Paul G"

Darn... Here I was, hoping that someone may have actually found somebody to make up some mats. :(
Oh well.
