I've been googling around for the Calif Model Shield and was Surprised at the number of out of state Dealers have them in their Catalog, wondering WHY? If these guys order them Wouldn't that clog the pipeline up for the dealers in state trying to get them for the customers Here(in Cali)?? I'm sure the people in their state don't want this version so doesn't make sense to order it and stick it in their catalog. Same with some calif version M&P9's too. *Shakes head*

I want my bloody Shield!

I can imagine your frustration. My guess would be that with the shortage of Shields, people will take whatever they can get. Better to have a Cali Shield than no Shield at all. The FFL's thinking anyway probably.

I think distributors must goof sometimes, too. I have seen the MA version showing up in other states, and I know that MA dealers sometimes receive un-ordered non-MA versions that they return.

Ya we got the CA compliant 15-22 here in AK a little bit ago. It donned on me that it was CA compliant and when I asked the guy behind the counter his response was "we'll take what we can get right now"

Good thing "most" of the time we can just swap em back to normal. :D I got a MSR that had a 10rd mag. ...those little things are kinda perty :D

I'm waiting as well. Big companies still carry CA stuff (like Bud's, KYGunCo, GoG, etc.) and we can order them!

Not everyone would agree, but the thing that would annoy me about the CA version is the magazine disconnect "safety." :( Springs are easy...not sure about the mag disconnect in the Shield.

The Cal version of the Shield isn't available yet. I participate on the Calguns forum and this is a very hot topic. Several members have been in contact with S&W and have been told that none have shipped and S&W isn't sure when they will. Something that some of the member their have chosen to do in buy a non Ca Sheild from out of state, have it sent to an FFL that will do the SSE (single shot exemption), after the 10 day waiting period is over the FFL converts it back to the original condition. There is a loophole in the law that makes this possible. Seems like a gray area to me. I'm not going anywhere near it. Besides, it's not worth the extra expense. I can't get a CCW (our sheriff just won't issue them) so I can wait until rush is over.

Uechikid is correct. Nobody has got their hands on one. Even the S&W website says "Availability-To be Determined"

Look at it this way. That gun won't have the billboard warning on the slide. GARY

I got my non ca compliant shied sse for my ccw in cali. Ordered from kygunco, found a local ffl to do the sse for me but i had to send it back for a problem.... Kinda annoying but whatever. My ccw renewal isn't till July.
