I am going to carry appendix. My frame is small enough that even as small as the Shield is, I have trouble concealing at 4 o'clock. Raven concealment makes a MIC or minimalist called the Vanguard 2. They make one for the M&P, but it says it doesn't fit the Shield. How big of a difference is there in the trigger / trigger guard between the two pistols? Anybody else have some good ideas for a holster? I want it to ride add low as possible to my belt.

G-Code Incog. Not sure what the wait times are now but they were talking about eventually having it down to a couple weeks. I had to wait almost 3 months for mine. I had bought the 4 hole belt clips that allow it to be worn super low but I couldn't get a good purchase on the gun as I'd like and the bottom of the holster dug into my pelvis to make it uncomfortable. So I ended up raising the holster on the clips and used a dremel to cut out the last hole and smooth/round it out. It feels slightly heavy with the mag caddy attached with the extra clip but it feels a lot better without it. I got it because I didn't want to have to keep carrying the extra mag in my pocket. I've also tried separating the mag caddy and wearing it on my 11 o'clock and the holster with one belt clip and it also feels much better. So I might start wearing it that way permanently.

For my m&p 40, I've bought: tagua leather, (2)different uncle mikes(a minimalist owb, a standard owb), a remora? pocket, a stickie md2 and a kestrel IWB kydex

I carry @ 4o'clock with (1) exception.

I've also carried iwb/no holster - they all work well, depending on what I'm wearing.

For me, carrying with no holster is least conspicuous? with just a "T" (I think it'll imprint the least canted forward)

My exception to IWB is with remora or stickie in cargo pocket - no fast access- but not noticeable to others.

If I'm wearing any bulky top, any of the above are great

I'm 6'2" 191# 35" waist FWIW.

I conclude, none are perfect for all conditions, but something that covers the slide, (sweatguard - Kestrel) is far more comfortable
if you carry for more than a little while.

My top 3 are IWB - no holster/ Tagua (I love my leather), OWB - uncle mike's.

I've tried 1-2 o'clock - hits my ribs when I sit

I have to admit, that versa-carry is interesting

If you are looking for OWB carry look at the DeSantis Mini Scabbard. Complete trigger coverage.

I live in Florida, tight t shirts are often my attire. I carry my shield with a N8 squared tactical holster at the 3 o clock position. Very comfortable, minimal printing.

For the Shield (or any other pistol) it doesn't get any better than this.

Better is a matter of opinion, but I agree, in my opinion, it is a great holster. I have one for my Shield 9mm and I think it works great. The only other similar OWB holster I would like to try is the Safariland with the thumb lock. I've never tried one of them, but I have read they are great holsters that provide the extra security like the Serpa does. OWB works concealed better for some than others, but if you dress right, it will work just fine. Small foot print and relatively close to the body.

I would suggest also purchasing the Mod-U-Lok. It makes it really easy to put it on and off the belt quickly. It's a little stiff to start with, but a little filing with an emory stick or file gets it just right for opening and closing easily while still being secure on the belt.

Sam, I like the Serpa and have one for each of my handguns. That said I carry IWB much of the time and have been having kydex made by White Dog holsters.

I can carry my Shield 9mm in a IWB Crossbreed Supertuck, at about 3 to 4 position. I can carry it all day, drive a car all day, have even mowed the lawn (riding mower) with it. It is the most comfortable carry holster I have, and I have tried several.

My Foxx Trapp can ride at appendix pretty well, and is one of the most low-profile holsters I've tried with a single clip that actually stays put. I did a few reviews, but I can post up some pictures if you'd like

I have had good luck (albeit limited use of same) with a DeSantis Cozy partner for my Shield .40. I'm starting to move away from IWB holsters though and this will be replaced by a custom OWB soon. I'm selling the DeSantis right now and I'm sure it will make someone a very happy person. Carries tight and is hardly noticeable after eight hours in service.

Foxx, BladeTech, Garrett Industries and Lobo gunleather all make purpose-built and quality AIWB.

My choice for carry is N8 squared tactical professional. Very comfortable and conceals very well. Best I have tried. There are many holsters and many opinions out there.
