Shield EZ9 frame question

Does the M&P Shield EZ9 frame have a steel exoskeleton, for the lack of a better term, like the regular M&P Shield???

Are you taking about "extended rigid embedded stainless steel chassis to reduce flex and torque when firing" which is built in the front part of the frame, in front of trigger guard? (I don't want to call it "dust cover" because it's confusing).
So yes. M&P9EZ is more original M&P, not Shield and whatever was good in M&P9 is used in M&P9EZ.
(Why the heck they named it Shield?)

I guess that they call it a Shield because it SHIELDS you from danger; as opposed to being a n offensive eeapon

I assume they call it a Shield because it has a single stack magazine.. Even though the "REAL" Shields have a funneled magazine that is really not a single stack at all either..

Looked at a 9EZ today that had a decent price = $451.25 Most 9EZs are marked $500 now days.. In fact I saw a few 9mm Shields marked $569 today @ a pawn shop new, Not the EZ & they where 1.0s not 2.0s.. Crazy Prices..
My Son had a 380EZ without the safety & I just couldn't get over the fact that it didn't have a safety, You have to realize that the EZs have an internal hammer, Imagine carrying a 1911 cocked with the safety off even though it has a grip safety.. Not Very Safe IMO.. We bought it for $269 & He sold it for $350.. Made $80..
Took a few photos of the one in question it was marked NEW but the magazine had a black mark on the follower & the barrels hood looked to be used to me..
It does have a metal exoskeleton that the serial # is stamped on, You can see it from both sides, see pics..

Not a bad price for what’s going on today. I got one last December and with tax it would come to $429.
The factory test each gun, so you will have a mark on the follower and the bbl hood.
I love mine. Holster is a Vedder kydex worn AIWB.

Didn't realize that it had an internal hammer. Does seem a little dangerous when you think about it in the terms you mentioned "imagine carrying a 1911 with the safety off". Umm, no!

I didn't realize the EZs had a hammer till I broke my Son,s down & saw it..
I assumed it was a striker fired like our other Shield that my Twin Brother now has, He lives in my basement & has had a stroke..
He really needs an EZ too.. Diminished hand strength if you will..
He has to keep one in the pipe because of the slides spring strength & magazines are impossible to load for him.. It's a 2.0 & cost $269..
I have trouble myself with the slide of my HK USP Compact 40, It's pretty stout as far as that goes but shoots soft like a 9mm..
We Both turn 55 January 27th... Youngest Son is 28 JFYI..

My Son works 3rd shift & slept in today so we didn't go out to the gun shops to look around.. One is open till 7:00pm = half an hour from now.
Bass Pro also has the 9mm EZs for $439
Looks like zero stock on the 380EZ currently..

Carrying a 1911 with safety off is no different then any striker fired pistol that just needs some pressure on that trigger to go BANG.
The safety is in the trigger finger, safe gun handling practices and a quality holster.
The grip safety on a pistol is the drop safety like the 2 part triggers on a Glock, S&W etc. Just Sayen.
I sold all my pistols that I could not rack the slide on. One had never been fired. That’s life.
Good luck HEADNOCKER on getting the 9EZ. There are so FEW pistols that can be racked easily!

Hammer at EZ line is the whole idea to be an easy to operate firearm. Using inside hammer, S&W lowered higher tension needed to cock the striker by racking the slide.

Actually I prefer this action over original Shield.
Perhaps that is the reason I also like M&P22
