shield failure to fire update.

I practice with Speer Lawman in my Taurus 740 Slim in 165gr and have yet to have not one bad round.Speer Lawman has been a very reliable and clean ammo for me.I usually order it from ammunition to go.Thinking of trying some Georgia Arms ammo for practice ammo now to save a few dollars.

A new gun will require both the shooter and the firearm to break in together. Your Shield, as with all firearms, will fire most anything if you do your job and break them in. I check our "dud" can every time I go to the range to work. I have seen a small amount of everything from every manufacturer with dented primers in that can. Most of it is LE issued loads shot out of Glocks. On the .22 side it is usually full of Remington.

I was at a steel match last weekend and a guy was shooting wwb through a glock and was having a real bad time with ftf . He would shoot 3-4 rounds and his glock would not fire and lock up. After beating his action open we found the round stuck in the lands and had to drive it out with a brass rod. After this happened a half dozen times they declared his gun unsafe and dq him. That's when I noticed that each round came out of the gun with the primer leading the way. Picked one up and saw that it was fired. So I asked to see one of the rounds and noticed that there was no primer hole punched in the case all the miss fired rounds were the same. So….. no wwb for me ever!

I guess I've been lucky. I usually use WWB and Federal with all of my firearms including the Shield, all bought at walmart and never had a problem. Magtech is the only other ammo I use regularly and on occation I've used the cheap Blazers. Zero FTF from my Shield or my SD9. They may be poor quality ammo but my S&W's can't tell making me one happy camper.

Never really had a problem with WWB, I do like their brass for reloading.

I ran another 100 rounds of WWB through my Shield 9mm this past Monday without any glitches.

My Shield has just over 400 rounds through it without any problems.

Just to report I have about 900-1000 rounds of Walmart Federal and 50 rounds of Atlanta Arms through my Shield with no issues. I have about 200 rounds of wwb from walmart with 8 failures. One fail to fire and the rest ejection issues. I have no faith in the wwb ammo anymore.

Walmart was out of the WWB last time I went to buy ammo; so I decided to try the wally federal 40. other than a couple bucks more $ per 100, I like it. My shield ate all of it I fed it, and some ranger ra40t I decided to shoot, to see if it would run properly. no problems.

BUT as GnarlyTwoTrack said above, there was a TON of powder on my arms/hands. almost enough to change my skin color, lol. next time, Ill wear an old long sleeve t-shirt.
