anyone else have a hard time getting the take down lever to go back to straight while putting the slide back on? My lever wants to keep going down. The slide seems to push it and it just doesnt want to latch. any tricks?

I have had this problem on occasion. I do not know what causes it. I just know it is a PIA when it happens. I am sure it is my fault.

When u put the slide bACK ON it pushes the lever up. Cant get the slide aound the lever. Never seen this before

You probably don't have the recoil spring seated properly. That's the only hangy-down part that might hit the take down lever when the slide goes back on.

If that wasn't the issue, and you are still having problems, try this. Works like a charm.

Before you put the slide back on...lever down...put an empty mag in the weapon. Slide the slide onto the frame and then all the way back. It will lock back. Flip the take-down lever up...remove the mag...my choice...then grab the slide and let it go home. That's it.

Dry fire and rack the slide a couple of times to make sure that it's working properly.

It's that simple...takes 15 seconds at the most.

Let me know if this helped. I'm always interested in learning new stuff.

I'll sparingly (baby steps) try your method next week on my 9mm Shield when I get back from shooting on my range. Will report back. Thanks.

Just hold the lever down manually and put the slide back on, my 40FS does this but not my Shield anymore. I've been shooting my shield but my 40FS has yet to shoot its first mag, my Shield did it when I first cleaned it before I took it to the range.

Before anyone says anything about owning a 40FS and not yet shooting it :) I'm about to have some night sites put on the 40FS so I decided to just wait before burning through ammo. I bought the Shield, 40FS and a Glock 23 all within a couple weeks of each other and now that I have the sites on the 23 and Shield that I want along with shooting both enough to call them good to go I can now focus on the 40FS. I will NEVER buy three handguns that close together again I promise.
