Shield is difficult to rack the slide

Mine was tough too and I left the slide racked back for about 4 days. Its been fine ever since. Fired over 1000 rounds not one issue.

Gonna resurrect this thread to agree that my wife's Shield is hard to rack. I know shooting will help break it in. But in between range trips, has anyone tried locking the slide open and leaving it? If so, did it help? Thanks for any help, as I can lock the slide, although it's not easy. My wife had to use all her strength to do it.

You could do that but it really won't help weaken the spring at all. But then why would you want a weaker spring which will affect the gun's performance?

A nice lightweight J frame would probably be a more suitable weapon for your wife if she can use a DA trigger.

First, I doubt weakening this spring will make hurt the performance. I have shot another Shield 9mm and it was nowhere near this hard to lock the slide. It will get better with shooting, so it's not that big of a deal, just wondering if anyone had tried keeping it locked a few days.
She couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the 642 she picked out. She shoots her Sar B6P very well, and it was hard to rack at first but broke in.
