Shield issue. Am I being too picky??

Like was mentioned in another Shield thread. Close your eyes, you'll never be able to see it! :D

Geezz, I thought my wife was anal!!

You are right.

Great, I have a used Gun. I got the one from the photo shoot.:D

How could you and I have the same pistol? :D Mine is like the picture to.

I understand your concern but it's not a concern of mine. :)

It's not a museum piece, it's not a fashion accessory. It's not a limited production item.

it's a tool.

Yeah that's fine. It IS a tool. It's just hard to accept mediocrity when you come from the school of "anything worth doing is worth doing right", which many of our forum members have graduated from. It's just the principal of the matter that if you're going to put white text on a black gun, make sure it's straight. I don't think that's asking too much considering we're not the ones asking for white text on a black gun in the first place.

Are you going to strap it to your arm like a wrist watch, so everyone can see the perfect inscription? Will the bad guy be less dead/shot when you shoot him? Are your bullets going to be pulled off target when you go shooting with your buddies?

It was like that the day it was purchased. If it was unacceptable, then delivery should have been refused. It's a lower tier Tupperware pistol, you get what you pay for.

I would return it and ask for the same warning written in Spanish, French and German.

And a pictogram. Gotta have one of those now, too.

Had I noticed it when I picked it up I would have refused it. IT should be right. I spoke to Smith and the rep agreed with me. He said he would send his back if it was like that. Since this thread started I have heard about at least one other like this. Seen a picture of it. Its not out of line to expect something made by Smith and Wesson to be correct in all ways. If you feel its a lower tier Tupperware pistol then if you have one Id be happy to trade you a few hundred dollars of Tupperware for it. It is a Smith & Wesson Firearm. Its not lower tier anything. I paid good money for it. I expect a good firearm.

Anyway, that's my thoughts. It will go back when I have the time to send it. Probably in the fall. S&W said it was better to wait as they are swamped at the moment.

I'll say one thing, my fullsize, your Shield the one in the 360 degree picture and a few others all have the end of that sentence closer to the bottom of the slide than the beginning. Some may be more dramatic than others but since it's pretty consistent, it must be how the machines are set up. The slides may also shift from time to time.

You are the customer and should have it the way u want, but realize people view different firearms in different ways. On a poly pistol designed and used for SD, a small cosmetic flaw like that matters little to me. If the "Valor" on my Dan Wesson Valor was crooked, I'd be in all out OCD mode. ;)

Send it back ASAP! The next BG you have to pull on will know which way to duck....

No chance of me owning one. I've had one plastic fantastic, and have no intention of repeating.

While your brand loyalty is commendable, every manufacturer has different grades of finish. I have production, perfomance center, and custom made guns. There is a large difference in the quality of each.

For a MSRP of $449.99, its a good firearm.

For the money DW gets, I would be as well.

A sub $500 gun will not have the fit/finish/quality of a $1000 gun, which will not have fit/finish/quality of a $2000 gun, and so on and so on. There are exceptions to the rule, but the old saying "you get what you pay for" really does apply.

While it's a nice gun, it's a $400 gun, or will be once the "new gun fever" subsides. Dealer cost is $335. At that price, it is what it is. Now if that happened on a $1000 HK USP, then I'd have a reason to be pissed. You have to ask yourself, what shortcuts did they take to make the gun $100 cheaper than a similar M&P 9c? Like others have said, you might get another gun with perfect writing, but jams. But I wish the OP luck. GARY N4KVE
