hey guys. I'm new to carry and would like some other holsters to try out. I currently have an aliengear tuck 3.0 iwb. It was recommended to me to buy straight leather or straight kydex instead of the hybrid systems, and I'm wondering if another holster will lay lower or conceal better. I'm 6' 240 not overly huge but not skinny and I wear semi loose shirts, but long enough to cover even an owb. I like a bit of a cant to the gun and carry right side at about 430. I carry on a gun belt as well, if that makes a difference.

Others will probably disagree with me but I'm not a huge fan of the Alien Gear holsters. Since you can swap the kydex piece to fit different guns, the kydex part is kind of wide and flat, especially for smaller handguns.

Everyone is different and I can't recommend these options for you but a couple of my favorites for IWB carry are the SHTF Gear (now Black Arch) ACE-1 gen 2 holster and the Stealthgear Onyx mini. I also see Black Arch has an ACE Dri-Matrix holster that looks interesting but I haven't tried one.

The Stealthgear Onyx is by far the most comfortable IWB hybrid style holster I have worn and conceals beautifully. Your mileage may vary.

You mention OWB. I am very close to your size and the Shield 9 is my main carry in a Grizzle High Country or a Rosen Upper Limit. The High Country can be ordered with a cant but mine is a straight pull and works wonderfully. The Upper Limit is only straight pull. Maybe the Grizzle is a little better made and it has a sweat guard for a tiny bit more comfort.

Being outside the waistband, they are exceedingly comfortable. High enough to conceal easily and the package small enough to carry everywhere that you can have a shirt or jacket to cover it. I actually much prefer the 3:00 position of these holsters when seated in a stadium or even in a vehicle. If in a crowd, it feels more secure to press it with my elbow and know it is in place. These two holsters fit my needs and wants so I recommend them to you.

If you are set on IWB you might take a look at N82 holsters. It is actually Nate Squared, because it is two guys named Nate but I don't know how to make the 2 smaller on here.

I had one for my Shield but gave it away when I started to carry my Glock 43. Anyway they are very comfortable and conceal well. I am a bit rotund and never had an issue with it.

I would second the above posters comments on the R. Grizzle leather products. I have a Georgia Snap for my Glock as well and it is my go to holster for carry. Rides high and tight and with an un-tucked slightly larger shirt works great to conceal.

Holsters are very subjective so enjoy the box of them you will have down the road. I try to give them away when I can because one man's disaster is another man's perfect fit.

IWB Holsters

I carry all my firearms in an Inside Waist Holster from daltechforce. They are all USA made and great leather. I have one that I have used for almost 10 years and it is great. I would never buy anywhere else after using these. I have it in several colors.

Prefer the kydex taco with a single over the belt clip for strong side IWB, especially in the summer with the extra moisture that is around from the heat. It is also easy to put on and take off. I use this style for a subcompact sized double-stack and would imagine something the width of a Shield would nearly disappear in one. There are a lot of makers of this style out there, take look around and see which will you think will work for you.
