Today, after 2 months waiting I finally got a shield in 9mm. I am now looking for a Clip Holster. Like to carry at 4 o'clock. Don Hume doesn't make an IWB specific to the shield. Anybody have the:

Wright Leather Cruiser IWB

Bell Charter Oaks Titan III or X-Treme Service?

Opinions? Thanks much.

Take a look at the Hidden Hybrid holster. They're well made, very comfortable, reasonably priced, and shipped very quickly. You can also remove the clips and wear it as a belt holster.

I was going to order an IWB from Wright Leather and after talking, at length, with Brandon Wright, I changed to his recommendation, the OWB Predator. He convinced me that with the thinness of the shield, the holster fit pretty tight to the body.

There was no way I would wear an IWB without some type of shirt or T shirt between me and the holster. That meant, for me anyway, I would have to wear an outer shirt. If I was going to have to do that, why not just go with an OWB.

That said, there are plenty of people wearing IWB and loving them. My buddy ordered one from Wright after hearing my reasons for not going with IWB. If you stay with the IWB, you might want to talk to Brandon and get his opinion on the two belt straps vs the single clip.

Wright seems to make a high quality holster and they are 12-14 weeks out. I will not see mine until the middle of November.

Good luck in your choice.

Hello I just bought a shield as well, and while I was there I bought desantis soft tuck for under $30 to wear until I receive my other holster from Alien Gear they have holsters similar to the cross breed. The good thing about this soft tuck is that in the winter time If I choose I can take off the clip and use it as a pocket holster in my jacket.Another good brand is the Foxx holster;I have one for my XD 40,and I love it.I am only trying this alien gear in case I like them better.I hope this helps a little.

I have a John Jackson leather IWB for the Shield, and a Foxx hybrid OWB for my full size M&P 9. Like them both but wish the Foxx was straight vs. canted.

Looks like the Foxx OWB without the clips.

Preference is all leather. I like Single clip so the holster and gun come off quickly together. Thanks for replies but keep them coming.

Then you might like the John Jackson. Jackson Leather Works.

I second this holster. Great concept and hands down the most comfortable holster I've tried. Conceals very well too. I wear mine at 3:30, but might try the 1 position!

I've been loyal to my Garret Industries holster, but after breaking the fourth clip on their holster and mag holster I'm fed up with purchasing new ones and always worrying about them breaking. They didn't even offer me new clips for the broken ones, I had to pay for them. They also claim to be coming out with a redesigned clip but it's been months and no new design. It's a shame because Garret holsters are top notch and from what I understand the clips are outsourced. I hope they get their clips straightened out and if so I'll give them another shot.

If you try a really nice holster you will realize how much better they're than holsters like N82 PJ galco etc.

I have an N82 Pro which is very comfy, but adds some thickness to the shield. I also bought a Remora which is nicer than I expected. Doesn't move. Very comfy. Thinner than the N82 Pro. It is also easy to put on/pull off and adjust for maximum comfort. I think the version is 5MPART.

I received an Alien Gear holster for my M&P. The leather was cracked nearly in half. Sent them an email 3 days ago and have yet to hear back. Caveat emptor!

To OP: I am leather bias, for single clip leather IWB, my favorite is MitchRosen CLIP, I find it best suited for subcompact, and each of mine have their own CLP (G26, PM9. CM9). It is straight drop hence allowing me to place it anywhere from 2 - 3:30 position, mouth is reinforced by a steel band for ease of re-holstering. The steel clip is one of the MOST strong I have come across. Note that it has a LOW ride which I prefer for Subs (supposedly for "deep concealment" ;)), but some may not like it. $60-ish new, $40-ish used.

I also have VMII for my compacts and they are indeed THE best. Used would be in low $100, <$100 if you got lucky.

I just bought home a Shield9 on Tuesday -- my FIRST S&W, I have found that it fits TIGHT in my rigs for G19/G26 (possibly they have the same height from top of the slide to bottom of the trigger guard). It even sits tight in a Remora 3B which is for my CM9!!! So, I am in no rush ofr rigs, but I still probably go buy a CLP :D

Heck.. after tightening the Blackhawk SERPA for my Glocks, it takes in the Shield with a solid click too!

Happy shopping!

Some ride height comparo for your ref:
