Compact u get more rounds in your mag.

Shield u get a much more comfortable weapon to wear IWB for long periods of time. I personally could never wear my "c" anywhere near my average 12hrs a day. My Shield im capable of wearing 12-16hrs a day and never have a concern or feel of wearing it.

It all honestly boils down to personal preference. I can personally conceal my 1911 fairly easy and wear it for a few hours without a problem. But my Shield far exceeds the amount of time I can wear it and not have a problem with it.

I'm with Smitty357
It boils down to what the person is willing to carry faithfully every day, rather than leaving it in a drawer.
I've successfully carried a S&W 19, G-19, G-26, XDMc and more when I 'needed to', but when I got my PF-9 3 yrs ago, I started carrying from the time I get up, 'til I go to bed. My Shield took the place of my old PF-9 last May.

You didn't say what you use the Shield for. If you want something for the range then get a full size gun. Same thing if you want to compete in competitions.

The Shield is a good self defense, and even home defense gun. The compact with more rounds might be a better choice for home defense. But again, if home defense is the use, then a full size pistol might be a better choice.

So, it depends on what you will use it for.

It's mostly carry and home defense ... Well a means to get to the 12 ga....I. Carry whenever I'm not working .... I have a shield 40 on order also but think I may forgo that for the 9C.... Ne one have both? What u think of carrying the C??

I carry my 9c daily on my ankle or IWB. No problems at all. I don't see the benefit of the shield personally, not to say its not a great gun. I'd rather have more rounds and a full size mag backup in a similar sized package.

40c for me...

The M&P 40c is my main carry and home deffence handgun. Why?

I CCW the 40c because, it truly is a full size firearm in a compact package (not subcompact). With a good belt and a good holster, I carry this bad boy all day. 10+1 of .40S&W punch, it feels and shoots just as good as a full size M&P. I can conceal the "compact" quite easily and comfortably.

The 40c is my nightstand gun because I switch out the 10 round mag to a full size 15 round magazine of federal 180gr. HST's. I also add a Streamlight TLR-4 laser/light combo and I'm ready to deal with "whatever" in the middle of the night.

The 40c can handle "double duty" for me just fine. One gun that is very adaptable.

I also have a 9c too...

I picked up a 9mm barrel, a few 12 and 17 round magazines for my 40c. Man, this thing is the best of both worlds. I have shot hundreds of 9mm without any issues. I can see why so many like the 9c. Im also interested in converting my 40c to a 357c, I just got to get my hands on the .357sig barrel.

I couldn't justify buying a "shield" for myself after my great experience with the "compacts".

I had the choice to buy either. I chose the 40c because it just felt better in my hand. Plain, & simple. GARY
