I've had a shield Plus for a while now my question is do you guys carry with 13 rounds in the magazine or 12? Every time I load it with 13 rounds it seems kind of stiff! To insert in magazine well... How do you guys normally carry it 12 + 1 or 13 + 1? Thanks...

I carry 12 in the 13 round mag. Just a habit I developed 30 years ago to insure that the mag will lock in place during a closed slide reload.

This. I keep 1 in the chamber and 12 in the 13 round mag. Or, 1 in the chamber and 9 in the 10 round mag.

One can argue about magazine springs not wearing out thru being loaded all the time, but it depends on the brand of mags.

I NEVER have an issue with Glock mags and some other mags. But, several times I have had issues with Beretta 92 mags and HK USPc mags.

On multiple mags of those brands, I have had the mags fail to lock the slide back after staying fully loaded for just a few months. I ended up having to replace 8-10 Beretta 92 mag springs with +10% springs. And, 6 HK mags with +10% springs.

Now, I always underload by 1.... And, that was a practice commonly done in the 80s and 90s, actually...

After personal experience with the Beretta and HK mag springs, I just do it with all my guns now.

I go with magazine capacity+1, but load the chamber from a second mag that only has 1 round in it and then swap that for the fully loaded one. Just works easier for me since the mag loader is put away somewhere and adding that last round on a micro compact's magazine to top it off is kind of a PITA without the loader.

Have never really had a problem with getting a fully loaded magazine in, but I guess having to push on the thing hard to get it to seat is something I just expect, especially given how hard it is to get those last few rounds in, and the way the top one is going to be pushed down by the bottom of the slide.

Just tried to load my plus 13 round for the first time last night, could only get 11 in. After sitting 30 minutes, I was able to get a 12th one in but definitely not 13.

Anyone know if a speed loader that comes with a new glock will work on a sw?

I go with full magazine capacity . . . if and when I can get those rounds stuffed in there!

I just fired my Shield Plus Micro today. 200 rounds of various amm including +p 124 gr and 147 gr.

Shoots well. I was impressed.

My fun was the package with 5 magazines. 4 thirteen round mags and 1 ten round magazine.

Two of the thirteen mags were initially difficult to fully fill.

Using an Uplula I put extra pressure on the 13th round and it "popped" in.

I emptied each of the "hard" to load magazines and redid thme a couple of timea.

They started loading easily.

Today at the range I had no problem with any of the magazines or the gun. loaded the 13 round magazines two or three times each.

I will probably get another two or three 13 round magazines.

I plan to use the gun as a back up pocket carry. Now I will experiment with the 13 round mags in the pocket to see if they will work when drawing them.

I wear Duluth Trading cargo pants and I think the 13 round mag will work just fine. Got to test it some more.

I have an (some of my friends call it "very odd") affinity towards prime numbers, so this is a potentially confusing issue. 13+1 (14) or 12+1 (13).

But yeah, 13+1 wins. Boy, those mags are tight - I'm hoping they relax just a little over time.
