I too love my Shield 9!! I bought it at SportsmansOutdoorSuperstore.com on Black Friday 2013 for $368.00. At that time I got a heck of a price. When all was said and done (FFL fee + cost to add to permit) it cost me $390. Now Shield 9's can be had for $360 or less online.
Check out Kentucky Gun Company or Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore.... I've seen Shield 9's on those sites for $340-$350 NEW in recent weeks but the price always changes. The models available for that cost all have the external safety though - not sure if that's a deal breaker for you or not. I personally like the safety on mine - I find that it has a positive "click" on and off, isn't easy to accidentally activate and is pretty unobtrusive.
I don't CC my Shield 9 too much... it's more of a home defense gun and a range gun because it feels amazing in my hand and I shoot it fairly well. It's a lot of fun to shoot! So far, so good... about 900 rounds through it in the last 8 months (1/3 of those various brands/sizes of hollow points) and NO ISSUES AT ALL. I don't see why, with a quality HP ammo choice, the Shield 9 wouldn't make a fine home defense gun or even a range gun. If you want it, I say go for it!
