I noticed at grabagun.com recently, that the Shield 45 NTS went from $339 to $402 and the Shield 9's have gone up also. Anyone else seeing this at other places?

Still $289 & $299 at Palmetto State
Brownells has the Shield 9 with thumb safety for $294 after M6Q promo code.

Nope. But it's not uncommon for retailers to take advantage of rebates to build in more profit for themselves. That, although an increase of $63 on a $75 rebate seems self-defeating.

If I could buy from PSA, I would... but they won't ship to MA (the wimps). Their website even states no exceptions for FFL's or LE

I think their stock got low for that model. Raising the price keeps it available for the must have buyer. The thumb safety version is still $349.

The Shield 45 here is $349 with safety, $409 without. I asked why and was told theres A LOT more made with safeties

Also I wouldn't look at one store and proclaim "prices are going up"

I don't see the price on the Shield's ( in 9mm/40S&W) going up significantly.
They need to stay competitive with Ruger's LC9S or risk loosing market share. I'm generally a S&W guy but admit the Ruger's have allot going for them since their redesign.

Little while ago think it was back in April I saw this deal, never seen one better- if it ever comes back I'm buying.

Brownells had a Shield 9 for $274.99 on Sale - $25 promo + $10 processing fee and free 2 day shipping- final price $259.99!

So after rebate- $184.99.

Not a surprise, I bet prices will go up where they were after the rebate period ends.

My experience..

Just bought a 9mm from PSA that will cost $214.95 after the rebate comes in.

now they have to compete with the PPS as walther just announced a $100 rebate for their PP model guns.. (pps, ppq, etc).... making the PPS a $255-$275 gun after rebate

I am thinking that I should have jumped when the rebates were first announced. The LGS had the Shield 40 Ported on special for $229 after the rebate. Now locally I do not see the base Shield for less than $279 after rebate.Hopefully the sale will be back on come the 1st of the month.

There were a lot of better deals online than the local gun shops, my dealer was surprised when picked mine. I paid $315 shipped for a Shield 45 when they were selling it close to $400.

I always give my local dealer the chance to meet/beat the price I have in hand. When they can't I order and pay the transfer fee. When they can, we're both happier. When I bought my K2-45 the LGS said that the price I got from CDNN was below their cost by $60 and they could not touch it.

I've bought 4 Shield 9's in the past month or so. First was when I wandered into a local gunsmith for a first look. He had a new one without safety marked at what might have been a normal price 6 months ago. I asked how he could possibly sell it given the crazy-low prices available. He asked what prices I was seeing and I told him the lowest I'd found was $309 delivered. He asked if I had cash and agreed to that price (not bad at all considering the sales tax he ate). He told me his cost was $340 something...I guess he needed lunch money that day.

Last weekend, I bought one with safety at a gun show and paid $319 ($299 plus tax and no need to pay for FFT).

Last night, I ordered two more with safety from out of state, paying $295 delivered. I have a local FFT that does the transfer free if you put some money in the cookie jar to support his favorite charity.

So, at least as of last night, there are plenty of amazing deals still around. Why am I filling my garage with Shields? I'm betting that, once the dust settles and the rebates end (and S&W decides to return to profitability), prices will normalize again. I assume S&W will introduce a Shield 2.0 and sellers will be able to get $400 plus for them. At that point, I'll have a couple NIB 1.0's that I will be happy to sell for $300 or more (having cost me around $220 net).

On the way home from picking up my CHP (NC lingo for CCW permit), I stopped at a small LGS that was highly recommended in another forum. Since the guy wasn't busy, we started discussing the crazy low prices on some S&W products. He had an interesting take...

"I can't compete with those crazy online prices and stay in business. The best I can hope to do is make a few bucks on a gun today. So, I tell my customers they can buy from me or have the gun sent to me for the FFL transfer. At the end of the day, the gross profit is the same except that doing transfers, I don't need to lay out any cash for the inventory."

I guess if I had a choice between buying guns, sitting on them for a while, having lookers paw all over them and make $25 or $30 gross profit, I'd be in the FFL business too.

I think they have just drawn the line on which political climates they DON'T want to do business with. One could call that ethics. Kind of like "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." I'm ok with it.....

Why not choose to live in a free state?

As for profits, I believe my LGS when they tell me that they can't get guns from their wholesaler for the price I am paying online. Happy to pay a transfer fee, and range fees, to keep them in business but not happy to pay $100 more for the same gun.
