Folks,
The going price in Jacksonville, FL for a Shield Plus is $499.99.

Are your local dealers pricing the early models under the Plus?

Geoff

Our LGS charges 10% over their cost for all new guns.

These are different times... This nation has changed as a result of the election of 2020. .... If you really "need it" you get what you can at the inflated/gouging price and just grit your teeth... You at least "have it". If you don't really "need it", stay the course and wait and hope that things will get back to somewhat "normal"... Maybe, maybe not... Again, these are different times...

I wanted a 9mm shield for my wife. She says my 40 is too "snappy". I wasn't willing to wait and see if the currently price foolishness will end soon.
The best deal I could find was a Shield 1.0 with Desantis IWB holster and 100 rds ammo for $595. I bought it at my local LGS on consignment LNIB. His 15% consignment is in that number. I could of had it for half that a year ago..... but I didn't.

LGS has got plus for $559. Grab-A-Gun is down to $499.00 don’t expect to see it cheaper for awhile.

Shield 2.0 was $499. When I see one local.

I got a great deal on a Performance Center M&P40 Shield back in January, LNiB for only $350!

It was new old stock which left the factory in 2017 and apparently just sat on a shelf somewhere collecting dust until it went on Clearance for $350 and I bought it. As near as I can figure, it didn't sell because it it's .40cal, which we all know totally died the instant that the FBI decided that they were switching back to 9mm.

On the subject of slimline double stacks vs single stacks, I'll say this much... Folks are quick to call out that the Shield PLUS weighs about the same as an ordinary M&P9 Shield and holds more rounds, yet apparently forget that those extra rounds in the magazine add to the overall weight of the gun when fully loaded, so unless someone is already carrying a few extra magazines to equal the amount of ammo that the PLUS offers in the first place, then they've added weight to their carry load by upgrading to a Shield PLUS.

Personally, I'm still carrying the M&P40 Shield 1.0, and even if S&W comes out with an M&P40 Shield PLUS, I'm still going to carry the Shield 1.0 because it's lighter, and that's more important to me than capacity when it comes to Summer carry.
I know that a mere 7 rounds won't provide me with enough ammo to use in suppressive fire once I've inevitably been accosted by the dreaded Crackerjack Boys at the local drugstore, nor would 7 rounds be enough to overcome the superhuman fortitude they've somehow obtained through the medical miracles which occur as the end result of otherwise crippling chemical dependency on a potent mixture of narcotics and caramel corn, but somehow I've managed to go my whole life without encountering any such illusive villains, so I'll take my chances.

Pre CV-19 I paid $265 for my 2.0 at Sportsman's Warehouse. My Plus, I paid full retail. That's what they cost around here if you want one. I did get two boxes of ammo at a steep discount so I guess that helped to offset it a little.

My local discount gun shop has pre-announced a S&W Sale. The Shield Plus is $450, or what I paid for a new SWaMPy 9c in 2006!
Shooters of Jacksonville, FL, but they don't do on-line at the moment.

Who needs his money, but...humm.

I really like my Shield 1( $230 ) … great pistol.. when prices drop on the Shield Plus .. I will probably pick one up … From what I have read and heard they are great pistols ..

Gave my sister my Shield 1.0. Replaced it with a 2.0 about a year ago. Paid $ 400 to a local guy. Came with the box, 6 mags, 2 holsters, and 300 rounds of FMJ in a plastic storage box.

I checked out a Plus model at a small show a couple of weeks ago. A friend bought one NIB from an FFL dealer there for $ 449 out the door. He only had two with him and I stupidly passed on it.

The Pluses are available at small shows for $ 550 OTD.

I purchased my Shield 1.0 on Gunbrokee for $249.00 two years ago and sold it last week for $400.

Here in Southern Oregon I've seen the shield plus at a few gun shops going for $569

Yeah but doesn't 13 rounds of 9mm weigh pretty much the same as your 7 rounds of .40?
