Hi All,
I recently came across a new Shield 9 at a good price. I've only had one range session with it so far but that was very positive. I've had a bit of a problem with the field stripping though. Disassembly goes well but reassembly can be a real pain. When I go to reinstall the slide, I can't hardly pull the slide back far enough to engage the slide stop. I think I may have discovered the problem but wanted to check here before calling S&W. The bottom of my barrel has no semi circular notch to catch the end of the recoil spring assembly. Mine just has a slope and no notch. I'm thinking that it's not always arresting in the right position and therefore can be hard to reassemble. Admittedly, I'm not the most gifted mechanically speaking but I have no similar problems with my M&P9FS and it does have the arresting notch. Did mine miss this bit of machining or am I totally missing something? Many thanks, david
