Has anyone gotten their Shield back?

I called last week and was told 5-7 days and today they said 7-10 business days.
The people I spoke with seemed to be reading a script.
I'm getting frustrated.

I just sold my 9mm Shield for $275 it did not work out for me.With all all brands there are a few lemon's. SW will take care of any problems ,they are a good company with great service.

Shipped mine out 9-3 and got it back today 9-13. Shoots as good as ever.

I shipped mine out that same day too 9-3. Maybe it will be here soon. Like the previous poster stated I'm leaning towards selling it too.

I have always regretted the firearms I have sold so I have never sold any firearm since. This issue on the Shield is a minor one that did not affect the function of the firearm. I probably would not have noticed it if no alert had been issued. I am still waiting for my XDs to come home from its recall and anticipate just as much fun from it as before. Both companies are making good on their warranties and neither gun has ever failed me.

I went online at MPShieldSafetyAlert.com and made the request for the FedEx prepaid shipping box from S&W on 9/3/13. It's 9/14/13 and still haven't received the FedEx box. Wondering if they are really backed up. Has anyone had the same experience?

You don't get a box. You get an email with a shipping label. I waited over a week to get mine.

Same here, no box, just shipping label, took over a week for me to get the label. Mailed mine off on Wednesday. I will post back when I receive it back from S&W.

I checked my Shield trigger safety as instructed by Smith, and it works fine.... Guess I'm in the minority as it doesn't need to be returned. It's a good gun.

S&W set up a hot line specifically for the trigger issue. The number is 877-899-6259. I called on Sept. 6th and received an email with a shipping label within a couple of hours.

I called the hotline and it took almost 1 1/2 weeks to get the label. I took the label to FedEx and they gave me an express box. I sent it off on 9/4/13 and they received it on 9/6/13. I have not received it back from them.

Question for the folks looking to trade your Shield. Did you have other problems and this just sent you over the edge, or is their something better out their that is more appealing that I'm not aware of? I have a Shield in .40 caliber, love the gun to death for a CCW. I have yet to find anything that has the punch this gun has, is as comfortable to carry and no problems to date with mine. I might trade it in on a Death Ray gun if it ever comes out. But the ergonomics, style and caliber make me want to keep it. I also have a tricked out .40 Compact that sits in my night stand for HD, love that one even more. It is one hell of a shooter, I have turned down many opportunities to sell that pistol. It has a nice trigger job and night sights that were setup on a bench test and is very accurate.

The other issue that has me considering getting rid of it is the quality of the Shield. I have found a weak point on the plastic of my gun. It's a piece of metal that is imbedded on the lower. The plastic is white as a result. The reason I say it's weak is purely my opinion based on the discolored plastic. The white on the black plastic indicates weakness. I started a thread on this a few months back. I have a Glock 19 and also a Ruger LC9 & SR9C that I inspected and none of those firearms had any issues like that.

Yesterday I bought a new Shield 40. How do I know if it was one that was recalled? It's new from a dealer. Should be getting it next week.

omastekola...I'm rather surprised that you didn't research the Safety Alert before buying, but since you didn't... Do the test shown in the link below. It's simple. All the dealers should have already performed this test and sent effected pistols back. My local guys did.

I got my Shield back today. As Storm40 stated they do not use the same tracking number.
I shipped it on 9/3 they received it on 9/6 and I got it today on 9/18. That's 8 business days.
I called the number for the Shield recall earlier today and let them know they don't reuse tracking numbers and the girl told me to call the same number I had just dialed. I don't even think they are anywhere near S&W. But I did call 1-800-331-0852. I told the operator I wanted to return a weapon and the next person I spoke to looked up my gun using the serial number and told me it would deliver today.

I sent my Shield in on 9/6 and it was delivered to S&W on 9/10. I included a note asking that I be notified when they ship the pistol back to me. I received a call today from Fedex notifying me that my pistol will be delivered on 9/19 and to make sure that someone will be home to sign for it. I don't know if this is SOP but including the request to be notified worked.

Is this what others have been experiencing? I am on the 7th business day so I called the alert number and was told to just check the tracking number I provided when I shipped the Shield to them. That seemed odd to me that they would reuse the same number. I wanted to be able to have someone home to sign for the Shield so it would help to know an approximate date for delivery.
