I have done it to both my Shield and 9c. Check this out:

It shows one way to do it. I used a fine Arkansas stone and some 600 grit sandpaper to finish it. I used a cordless drill to spin the striker block and rounded the edge with the stone. Then the 600 grit, then a felt wheel with some Mother's polishing compound. The rounding isn't quite as aggressive as the Apex block, but it is way better than stock. I did not round the very top - only the sharp edge. You don't want to remove too much or you will screw up the timing. Here is a before and after pic:
I also ran some 600 grit down into the channel in the slide that the striker block rides in to remove any roughness or burrs.
