Shield striker plunger

Has anybody smoothed out and rounded the top of the shield striker plunger in order to smooth out trigger pull and eliminate grit. The apex kit has a rounded plunger but I only want SMOOTH-not a lighter pull?

The rounded plunger makes the pull smoother, not lighter. The sear, sear spring, and trigger return spring make the pull lighter.

I have done it to both my Shield and 9c. Check this out:

It shows one way to do it. I used a fine Arkansas stone and some 600 grit sandpaper to finish it. I used a cordless drill to spin the striker block and rounded the edge with the stone. Then the 600 grit, then a felt wheel with some Mother's polishing compound. The rounding isn't quite as aggressive as the Apex block, but it is way better than stock. I did not round the very top - only the sharp edge. You don't want to remove too much or you will screw up the timing. Here is a before and after pic:

I also ran some 600 grit down into the channel in the slide that the striker block rides in to remove any roughness or burrs.

Wander if you can order the plunger that is in the performance center shield as this is what S&W did to the plunger.

I doubt if Smith will sell you the part. The mod is not difficult to do. Once I got the striker block out of the slide, it took about 30 minutes to do the mod. I did purchase a couple of spares from Speed Shooters just in case I messed up, but I didn't.
