shield takedown lever

So i took the shield apart for the first time to clean. Just bought it new back in january. While cleaning the takedown lever completely fell out. Was a little tricky to get back in as you have to line it up just right. I got it back together and it seems to cycle ok. Havent shot it though. Does anyone know if something should be holding it in or is this normal . Thx

The takedown lever comes out rather easily, once you rotate it to a certain position (you'll see it has a small tab/dimple that keys to the frame). This isn't a problem at all, and is presumably designed to be removeable. I will remove it from time to time to better clean it, and the area underneath.

My Shield 9mm does the same. Not a problem. I've read a few others write about this. Seems to be common.

I can relate to the OP. Mine just fell out when cleaning, which amazed me when I struggled to get it back in.
