Shield, trigger mods and CCW

I used the kits that did not come with the trigger. I have not tried the Apex trigger which can be purchased seperately so I don't know how much you gain in performance with that added option. Maybe others here have and they can comment. I would be interested to know the difference myself.

I spoke with one of the gunsmiths at my range this weekend. He let me dry fire his Shield with stock trigger and the Apex kit - wow....such a difference. I asked him about the trigger and he recommended talking to one of their instructors who has the kit with the Apex trigger in it as well. I'll let you know what she says if I ever run into her.

Just put the whole $%%&% kit in. Including the trigger. You will know if the trigger is dangerously sensitive or not when you take it to the range. 3.5-4.5lbs is ideal in my book. There is no way that any prosecutor could ever prove that a spring has or hasn't changed it's spring weight over time. Springs stretch so they cannot maintain a constant pull weight. Whether it takes a few days or years cannot be proven regardless of how much ammo you have shot. APEX specifically state that their competition kit is NOT for duty/carry. They are not an illegal product. You have a gun to protect yourself and your family. Make sure you have the best weapon to do that.

I'm brand new here, but can anyone direct me to a couple of recommended gunsmiths that can I can trust to do a good job putting an APEX 5.o carry package in my new 9mm Shield? Many thanks for the steerage.
Larry
