Can anyone tell me if the Shield 9mm with the safety has the same trigger pull as the Shield without the safety? Also, can anyone tell me the pounds associated with them?
My 9MM has no safety and while I can’t quantify the trigger pull it is factory. My Shield is a home protection and an occasional CCW piece, the trigger is a bit heavy but just where I want it given its use.
The safety is a mechanical blocking device in the trigger system. It is either there, or not. The firing mechanism is otherwise the same, so there should be no great difference in trigger pull other than what is normally experienced from one mass manufactured Shield to another.
All the triggers are the same on the Shields 9's . On the 1.0 I think they come in around 6 to 7 + range but they smooth out . On my Shield it is a very short take up to break . Mine was manufactured in 2016 . As someone else has said it is a defensive pistol I don't want a light trigger weight . The one 2.0 Shield I dry fired seemed to have a lighter pull .
I have 2 with safeties. 9mm. A PC which is at 5.5# and a standard shield with Apex trigger which runs 4.8# regularly. The apex was way better than the standard trigger, but between the PC and Apex, I'd be happy with either. Both of these guns have over 2k rounds through them in their current state.
New from the factory three V.1 I’ve had averaged almost 7#. When broken in (or polished) they will smooth out to about 6.5#. I believe the new 2.0 triggers are smoother and a little lighter out of the box.
My Shield 9's (1.0) trigger weighs in at 5#-12oz to 6# and is smooth but slightly spongy. The only thing I did to it was the trigger bar and striker block polish when it was new. It has between 1-2k rounds through it.
For comparison, my Shield 45's trigger pull is consistently 4-1/2#. It had the same polish job and has less than 500 rounds through it. It is very crisp/smooth and not spongy at all.
