I am planning on getting the Shield as soon as my roof is done and my roofer does not have any extra $$$ surprise's for me lol , I know the Shield comes with a 7 and 8 round mag and MagGuts can add 1 round! Any bigger capacity mags ?

MagGuts | The Last Round's On Us! and There is a extension
Amazon.com : Pearce Grips Magazine Extension for S&W M&P Shield Sport, Sporting good, Fitness : Sports & Outdoors
Does the extension add much? I have big hands which fits my Ruger SR9 perfect but the shield feels small. Anyone add the extension ? or the Magguts kit? any other's you have used ? Thanks

I have both mentioned. I like the Pearce extension for just a hair more purchase and the magguts are fantastic.

Thanks for your reply. Do not have the shield yet but already looking at extras lol So now 3 8 round mags, plus the Magguts and Pearce :) Now if the would make a 10 round mag :)

I put the Pearce Grip Extenion on my Shield 40 7 round mag. It just adds length to the grip not a round but it felt so good to have a place for my pinky I ordered 3 more. Don

The MagGuts are great. not only adding an extra rnd but seem to make loading smoother and easier.

I also have the Pierce extensions on some of my mags. I Front Pocket carry and the Pierce extension doesn't quite work as well in the pocket. While they do make gripping the Shield a bit better, I've gotten used to shooting it without the extensions. For IWB Carry though, they'd be no problem at all.

I also have the MagGuts spring conversions and they work great, but it's easy to NOT get them installed correctly. If you install the kit and can not EASILY get 8 rounds into the regular mag, or can not EASILY get the mag to seat (without needing to slam it home), take it appart and start over.

Also with the MagGuts... Just as I recommend thoroughly testing a pistol before trusting it as your carry piece, Once the MagGuts is installed, DO thoroughly test them before trusting them for carry.
(make sure the springs and/or follower does not bind, that the follower trips the Slide Stop each and every time, that it generally feeds properly)

+1 mag capacity

My EDC is my M&P Shield 40 completely bone stock other than I added a Pearce grip extension on the 6 rnd mag & Pachmayr grip.... This is my main carry and comfort for all day wearing & shooting are more of a priority than # of rnds IMO.

Thanks for all the replies! Great info great links ! The Shield will be my summer CCW! Cooler weather will be my Ruger
SR9 double stack but that could change if I like the Shield better! :) It will not be a pocket carry but a IWB so the extension should be great! Now a 10 Round Mag would be a big plus in size and rounds :) But no luck finding that :( Guess I save a few $$$ lol

I think you are making a great decision about the Shield, but personally, I don't worry so much about the capacity as the concealability. I too have a Pierce grip extension on my 6 round mags which works well for my hands. 6+1 40S&W can sort through most of the self defense scenarios I worry about. If you really want/need the extra capacity, everyone speaks well of the compact M&Ps.

I may pass on the Gear guts and just grab a few more mags! :) But I will also look at the C model as well. I want to Feel them in my hand side by side. My sons Shield did feel small in my hand that is why I am sort of looking for a bigger grip. My Ruger SR9 carries well but is full size. SO the roof should be done Monday or Tuesday and as long as my roofer had not surprises Ill pick up the M&P next week :)

If you like your SR9, you should check out the SR9c. I love mine and you can use your SR9 mags. It feels much more substantial than my Shield but it's not really any more difficult to conceal. Fantastic shooter as well. I like my Shield, but love my SR9c. 10+1 for carry and 17+1 for home defense and it'll shoot +P all day long. I'm sure the M&P 9c is a good gun as well but haven't shot one.

Yes the Ruger 9C is in the running as I do have 3 mags for it not :) . The guys on the Ruger forum love the 9c,That was my first choice till I treed my sons Shield :O But I love my sons Shield and am leaning on it as a summer /maybe full time carry! And use my SR9e as a night stand /Range gun! What I want to do at the LGS is lay out the Ruger9c,M&P c and the Shield! I want to try the Shield w/extension as my hands are sort of big and my Sons Shield felt small.. I have a indoor range 10 minutes from my house so I can rent the guns ,I think 3 for 10$ :). Then when I get the new one I can shot the day lights out of it in my back yard if the Black flies aren't too bad :O , SO I am down to 3 CCW guns....

Shield is a great gun. I found the M&P9c trigger not as good as the SR9c. That is a really nice trigger! If I could only have one, it'd be the SR9c. But I live in a fairly high-crime area and just feel a little more secure with it over the Shield.

I already have the SR9E and not much a size difference between the 2! IMO. It carries well but is big and the C being a double stack will carry the same that is why I am looking at the Shield! I agree the C is a great gun and I do like RUGERs. Time to give S & W a try :)
Maybe tomorrow Ill grab it, Trying to recover from paying my roofer lol

I have big hands also and the shield fits my hand better than all of the other sub-compacts I've held. I put an extension on my 7 round mag and it fits really good in my hand as well.

Thanks for your info. That is what I wanted to hear . Good to hear someone else with big hands likes the fit :). I may close the deal today or tomorrow, The LGS wanted 390$ for it and they had a box of Magazines and would throw in 1 extra 8 round mag. So the factory 7 and 8 round plus the extra 8 :) will see if they will throw in two extra 8 rounders :) I would be set on mags for awhile if they do lol

The 9E is actually a bit larger than the 9c, especially the grip length which is the hardest part of a gun to conceal. I've had a Lc9s, the 9c and a Shield (still have the 9c and Shield) as my carry guns and the 9c conceals and carries as well as any for me personally. The one area where I like the 9c best is that it is much easier to get a fast, proper firing grip when drawing from concealment. The others seem to really sit deeper into the waistband (I've tried a bunch of different, adjustable holsters) and that makes them conceal a little better, but that can be tough to get a fast, proper firing grip on. Don't get me wrong tho, I do like my Shield!

I have moderately large hands and understand the impression that the Shield's grip is small, but it really is quite adequate for its purpose I think. Adding Talon rubberized grip tape gives you better 'traction' on the grip and reduces any tendency for it to move around under recoil. And while I practice with my Shield pretty regularly, I don't consider it a "shooter" the way I do my Pro Series, or my M1911, so great grip comfort isn't as much an issue as the ability to conceal the Shield which the narrow grip enhances.

Thanks for your reply I agree with you 100% that the size difference is small between the SR9E and the SR9C. The 10 round mag shortens the grip a tad. But with a bit of a large butt grip size is not much a issue for me, The 9E stays hidden ok with a T shirt for me! The shield just smaller and lighter for everyday summer carry.. Still thinking about the Ruger 9C though lol
