Shield9: Just Apex Trigger?

Hey guys, a while back I chose to get the apex hard sear for my M&P Shield9, now I just got the Apex trigger not the rest of the kit though, I was wondering what improvements should I expect?
Yeah, I know, stupid of me to buy it without knowing the improvements, but also I really like it, and the form of the trigger I like, but besides that, is there anything else?

PD:
Quick secondary question, can I spray paint the visible part of the safety, slide lock, and takedown lever? Just to matck the trigger haha

Yep hahaha Also gonna fill the slide letters with red paint... Not wanna over do it either tho

I have the standard Apex trigger but I did paint the lettering on the slide red.

I don't believe the trigger will make any difference in how the gun shoots though.

I just used red fingernail polish and non-acetone fingernail polish remover. Very easy. I don't a have a picture of my shield but I do have of my compact.

You went the opposite way most folks go if looking for improved trigger action. The Apex sear is #1, then trigger next......

Hmm mind explaining?
From the research I could gather, the Sear will put the trigger pull around 4.5 lbs, which is about what I was interested in, and the trigger shouldnt decrease/increase that, just the feel as far as im aware.

The upside of going this way is that if im satisfied with the sear+trigger then I can leave it be, and if not, I just purchase the missing parts... Downside of that is having 2 sears tho...

This is no rant or getting mad or anything haha, Im truly interested to know why you say that its the opposite way?

some people don't like the hinge trigger, that's the benefit of the apex trigger getting rid of the hinge mechanism. I tried the apex, liked it, performs good, IMO it has a bit more advantage over the factory trigger.

I'm not sure I can tell any difference in the 15 to 20% reduction of pre-travel and over-travel in my Shield but the forward set kit for the Compact reduces the pre-travel and over-travel by 50% and makes a great difference. I would not spend the money again for the Shield trigger though.

I didn't get out the calipers, and it's possible the shape has something to do with it also, but, the pre-travel definitely feels shorter, and over travel is down to almost nothing. I'm actually considering adding a tiny bit of over travel to mine. I also, didn't care for the sponginess of the hinged trigger, so that alone was worth the price for me.

Sure. If you want a lighter, crisper, smoother operation of the trigger, the sear is the big player. If you are looking for a different feel of your finger against the trigger, then the Apex trigger is called for. Not that what "most" people do must be the right thing for you, not at all. It's just whatever you are trying to accomplish.It may be that both will give you what you want...good luck!
