Shingles.......OUCH!

How are you guys getting the darned Shingrix shot?
I've been asking about it for over a year and the answer has consistently been
"We don't have any available - there is a NATIONAL shortage of the vaccine."
Today they tell me there is a waiting list for people who have had the first shot and need the second dose, and that there isn't even a waiting list I can get put onto for people who haven't had the first shot yet.

I was wait listed at CVS. I then asked the pharmacist at my supermarket, who
said she had lots of it. Received my second shot last January.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get the 5% lidocane patch. I don't have insurance so Doc won't see me, if he don't see me he won't give me a prescription. VA pharmacy doesn't stock lidocane so I'm screwed. everybody should have the new shingles vaccine by now, its been out for 2 years.

Sometimes you just have to pay the doc for an office visit out of your own pocket. I did that a few times when I didn't have insurance.

Well, after I raised a little hell, they somehow miraculously located a dose for me.
Got the first shot this morning. They said I'm now on "the list" for shot number 2, but that they don't give the second dose until at least 2 months after the first dose. So at some point 2 months or more from today, "when they have some more available" they will give me a call for the second dose.

The gal behind the counter said some people have waited as much as a year. I didn't tell her so, but I won't be one of them. Once the 2 months is passed I'll start making follow up calls. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease - right?
