Shipping a hand gun from a non FFL

After reading every word on this thread, my takeaway is use an FFL to ship a pistol.

Yes! And for what it's worth, I don't know a single FFL that would receive a handgun from a non FFL. An FFL has to log where the handgun came from…….. I wince every time I see an ad here in the classifieds that say " your FFL must receive from an individual ".

Perfect for this discussion because like much of the rest, this too is utter nonsense. I've used countless FFL's over 3-1/2 decades, I'm certain that nearly all of them ROUTINELY receive handguns in shipments from non-FFL's.

Not via USPS, but literally all the time.

What state they are in matters. So no, not utter nonsense……… I'll add one more thing. I AM AN FFL in NY. I need a separate NY State dealers license to handle handguns and a NY State Gunsmith license to do repairs. I handle a lot of transfers from GB sending and receiving. If you are being charged $75 plus shipping you should find another FFL. I charge $30 plus shipping and 95% of time the customers total bill is less than $50. Unless it is a very expensive handgun that they want "extra" insurance on. And the extra insurance gets the signature on other end for free. I try to take care of my customers. NY is not the only state with laws superseding FFL regulations.
