Has anyone out there ever used Ship My Gun to send a firearm? Just wondering how it went, Supposedly much cheaper than UPS or Fed Ex.

I have to ship a mini 14 to Wash. state, UPS told me they don't ship unless it's an antique, USPS doesn't ship and I haven't heard back from Fed Ex. UPS store told me if I print my own label and bring in the pkg they won't know there's a rifle in it and off it goes.

Having never heard of Ship My Gun I look forward to any information to the OP's question as well. I would offer the following concerns though in using the shipping services to ship firearms.

I have shipped guns through both Fedex and UPS and had no problems, but it is expensive.

I believe you do have to inform them that it is a firearm that is being shipped and you have to pay the overnight rate which is what makes it so expensive.

I looked into the Ship My Gun deal when the OP posted it because I had not heard of it prior.

Based off the website it is a subsidiary of Bud's Guns and that is why they offer such a low discount. When I ordered a handgun from Bud's I believe it was shipped to the dealer by the Postal Service.

Guess my concern would be, if they use the Postal Service, where do they have you drop the gun off at. It would be illegal for me to walk into a postal facility with the gun to ship it. And I am not sure I would feel comfortable dropping it off at a box somewhere because where I used to live the boxes did get broken into at times.

Outside of that their cost is about a 70% discount from what I paid through the other two carriers.

I will be watching this thread to see if anyone has real world experience with them.

Google Ship My Gun and check it out. Any FFL will use the USPS because it is cheaper than UPS or Fed EX. I didn't get far enough on the site to learn where to drop the package off.

UPDATE; On the site, you tell them where the gun is headed and they send you a label and a box to be taken to a FED Ex drop facility-not a store. Stores won't send them.

I had a major problem because of them . I bought a m3914 here and he shipped it through them . It got here and my FFL refused to take it , it didn't come from an FFL . That set off a big mess . I don't know if it's changed , but I would ask . They are sending you a box , so it doesn't really go through them , it's not on their books . If the FFL you are sending it to accepts transfers from individuals , you would be ok . I too have sent pistols through UPS , but they make you send it overnight which can be very expensive .

Someone is lying to you because all three of those shippers will ship long guns.

The advice to print out the regs is a good one. I've had to educate more than one USPS clerk and a few FFLs as well.

It's best to check with the FFL you are using for the transfer before the gun is shipped to make sure you, the seller, and your FFL are in agreement as to how the transfer will be handled.

My FFL reluctantly agreed to accept my recent purchase from private sellers. He instructed me to have the seller include an invoice and valid photo ID (DL) with the firearm.

I have mailed many a long gun. Perfectly legal if going to a FFL.

I sent a revolver to a non FFL via UPS, which is legal under Federal law, as we were both Virginia residents. I printed out the UPS rules and had to address it with a supervisor. The clerks were happy that I won the discussion.

I tried to ship a Remington 22 rifle out of state at the USPS and they told me I couldn't. The supervisor was not there that day and I, knowing better, just sent it UPS.

I UPS. Handguns are car parts. Long guns are guitars. Insured

I have shipped long arms through the postal service as well as UPS and FedEx. You have to tell them what it is to be legal and to have any recourse if something goes wrong. The postal service will only handle handgun shipments from FFL to FFL and NEVER try sending ammo through the post office. If you are caught, there is a $10,000 fine.

The best laid plans go out the window if a package gets damaged and the contents revealed.
I had an FFL who used to always ship ammo by USPS in those "if it fits it ships" flat fate boxes. Well, one day someone dropped the heavy box and the postal inspectors notified.
He escaped with a warning, I guess his active cop status helped. From that day forward he used UPS.
