Bad, bad, bad...you guys better not let the Mrs be looking over you shoulder. But those 3 comments are great!! Definite beer up your nose spitters.

He did kill the armadillo. I'm not clear on if the bullet ricocheted off the shell, but caused enough trauma to kill it, or passed through the animal and then ricocheted & hit those other objects.

BTW, and this isn't a joke, armadillos can carry leprosy and I do not think you should handle them dead or alive.

Jaguars can crack turtle shells to eat the turtle. They have very strong jaws and a lot of biting power Does anyone know if they eat armadillos? Those look like tough shells.

At OK slough couple years back a friend and myself saw tracks in sugar sand of what could only be a mama panther using an armadillo as a teaching aid for a cub.
Could see where mama repeatedly moved alongside the 'dillo and slapped it onto it's back while the cub pounced. No sign of a kill but that would make it easier to dispatch and feed.

Our dogs killed one in our yard one evening.
Next morning I went out to dispose of it. We figured they beat it to death - Couldn't find bite marks anywhere.
A dead armadillo does not smell as nice as one would think :(

Cute? You ever see one up close?

They lived in SC. I think that I only spotted one or two live ones walking around. Usually I would just see them dead by the road.

I do not have any ill will for my mother in law. I only met her once. I am not sure, she may be in prison. Eh.

Honest officer, I was shooting at the armadillo.

I keep thinkin', it went through the armadillo, through a fence, through a door and through a chair and still had enough velocity to cause an injury 100 yards away?

That is believable to me, I never underestimate the improbables of life.
A 9mm bullet will travel a long way when it ricochets.
And, it sounds like blunt force trauma killed the armadillo.
That bullet was doing double duty, and the fallout may be intense.

And, while an armadillo is ugly, it has nothing on a terrapin.
Those things appear to be bullet-proof and they hiss like Dracula.

That "fence" in the newsreel is just strands of barbed wire, not a real wooden fence. Did the bullet even hit an upright post in the fence? Not enough info.

But even Elmer Keith had a lot of respect for 9mm penetration. He just didn't think it was much of a "stopper."

I have battle reports from Iraq, from a soldier who shot a number of Jihadists, and he found the 9mm to kill well, with good placement. He had to use NATO ball ammo, but it worked. Some enemy were shot more than once, however, before he determined results. Now out of the Army, he prefers Speer Gold Dot or Federal HST ammo, but the fact remains, he did kill a number of men with FMJ.

A man I knew tried out Remington's then-new 125 grain Plus P .38 on old cars and other items. He reported that the bullets penetrated "until next payday." The 9mm will beat that. And this is one reason why it might serve a hiker well in a bear encounter, if precisely placed. But I'd rather have a .44 Magnum. I think this mother -in- law is fortunate that the man firing at the armadillo wasn't using a .44.
